Went to Filey with the girlfriend and the dog a couple of weekends ago and got a parking ticket.
Now, i bought a ticket but didnt stick it on the window i put it on the dash board. when i returned to the car i had a PCN (Penalty Charge Notice) and the ticket i had bought was in the passenger footwell. im guessing that when i have closed the door the ticket had blown onto the floor.
i sent them an email saying i had bought a ticket and gave them the number. they have basically said that because the ticket wasnt displayed properly then fcuk you, you still have to pay it.
£25 is not alot of money but its more the prinicple to me. the fact that i bought a ticket means to me that i shouldnt have to pay the charge.
what are peoples thoughts on this?

Persist, argue your case, try and take it as far as you can go, if you speak to one person that wont help you try another.
You can prove a ticket was bought.

the thing is that if it is not paid in 14 days it goes up to £50 which is money i cant just throw away tbh

It must be displayed im afraid mate, thats their law, think its because you could get someone elses ticket or something and claim afterwards that that was the one you had that had blown off.
I stick mine far down the window by the dash cause on a hot day iv had one peel away from the glass!

Like the council said to you, it needs to be displayed correctly.....
Pay up before it becomes £50 - like you said, 50 is too much to lose, 25 isnt so bad.

That's a bit of a shit, doubtful you will be able to get the PCN revoked. As mystic said, has to be clearly on display otherwise people could get a ticket, then just use someone elses ticket who bought it at that day/time.
Never stuck mine on the window, just slap it right at the bottom of the dash and make sure it's there when i walk off :y:

Some ticket stattions here have facilities where you type in your Reg number so they know which car has bought a ticket so that way you could argue it. If this isnt your case mate like they said it can be anyones really.

I assume that it was a "Pay and Display" car park, rather than one of the "Pay and throw ticket in footwell" car parks?
It's unlucky, but you failed to display your ticket.
