'fun' as in ragging it or just out for some 'fun' as in ripping it? no offence but to do that kind of damage required either speed or stupidity. unless you were hit by another vehicle in which case i apologise for. glad youre ok though.

Calyx

Was a bit of both speed a stupidity, basically i overtook my mate, who then put his foot down, but been as stubborn as I am , I contiuned to overtake and broke in a corner, back end went on me , hit a tank kerb, then bounced up to hit a huge tree then cartwheeled it. :(

That is EXACTLY the reason that young people have to pay STUPID amounts for insurance.

you'll be a very nervous passanger for a few weeks mate

but at the end of the day bank notes can be replaced your life can't....

dont be racing on back roads its a fools game... could end up killing someone else which would be worse than yourself. motorways in the early hours if your addicted to speed. which alot of ppl actualy are addicted to tbh.

SaxoAlex
7th June 2008, 11:36

Im just glad it was only you hurt and not a family on the way back from the supermarket.

I've never been close to crashing, despite the shit brakes that the saxo has, at the end of the day, general knowledge and the ability to see is all you need to drive safely imo.

Shame you lacked one of these.

Can see why insurance is so high for males at a young age though... all comes back to people like you. Just be glad this time it was only yourself hurt and not a family as someone else said. Saying that, comments in this thread are quite nice tbh, some people get "You stupid fucking cunt, hope you're never allowed on the road again" :y:

Those people who are writing comments like that may well have been victim to someone who drives like that. Or they may not even consider driving like that. Yes he probably has learnt his lesson, but the worst thing you can do is come on to a forum where driving like that is heavily frowned upon and tell everyone what happened and expect every person on here to say "yeah we race each other/drive like that all the time. So gutted for you, get another car and drive like it all over again" - it won't happen.

You have got away with your lives, and learnt from it. Don't go on a forum almost boasting about it and showing it off to be like a trophy "here's the result of my stupid driving - good isn't it" (you have got away with it lightly on here to be honest)

Now learn from it (I am sure you have) and show us all your next Saxo, make it a stunner, and drive safely

Right to clear this up.

MrX MY FRIEND posted this morning pictures of his car before and after his accident. He was driving on tank roads with 3/4 other cars whe n2 of them (my friend and the guy with the clio) decided they would fuck around. My mate overtook him carried to much into the corner and lost the back end thus resulting in him hitting a tree and rolling it.

Yes he was an idiot and yes he knows it but all hes doing is trying to make other people avoid the temptation of racing on public highways.

I realise what i did was stupid, and I have well and truley learnt from it, I smashed up a car that I liked, but not enough, my dad had the decency to buy it for me and i threw it back in his face, i have that to live with, but im trying to make up for it, by proving im a better person by saving up to pay him back and buy a new care which i will respect and look after. But you have to see coming on here telling us about it will just piss the majority of people off, as this is the cause of our wankstain insurance. Fair enough he's learnt from it, but no need to do it in the first place in all fairness, also really makes you wonder if the age to drive will be upped by people like this...

Phil_Reborn

It seems a lot of immaturity is flowing freely today.

Time for everyone to get off their high horses.

Do I expect a 17year old to drive in a mature fashion....
of course not!

here we have an inexperienced driver falling foul of the lack of training in car control and the lack of experience. I think we can safely say he's done a lot of growing up since his moment of recklessness.

Phil, what you most likely found is the dreaded lift off oversteer. Its a characteristic of the rear torsion bar FWD cars and something you should learn to expect and avoid when possible. By braking hard, too late and lifting off the throttle it was probably inevitable.
99% of people when they panic and start to loose control will lift off.

Yes many of us have been involved in serious accidents or lost relatives and although it is sad and emotional its really irrelivant to this thread and your anger at your loss should not be directed at Phil. He is not the cause of your own pain and getting into a childish slagging match degrades the situation somewhat. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone who hasent is 99.9% going to at some point in their lifes. The people who stand out are the ones who stand up and admit it, listen to advice and go away with the determination to make themselves a better person.

phil - you are not a good driver - you are a new driver; so its time to look at improving your attitude and your skills when behind the wheel. your driving test does not teach you about car control but some basic skills to try and teach you to be safe. Realisation of your lack of ability will save your life, other peoples lifes and a large financial dent too.

It seems a lot of immaturity is flowing freely today.

Time for everyone to get off their high horses.

Do I expect a 17year old to drive in a mature fashion....
of course not!here we have an inexperienced driver falling foul of the lack of training in car control and the lack of experience. I think we can safely say he's done a lot of growing up since his moment of recklessness.

Phil, what you most likely found is the dreaded lift off oversteer. Its a characteristic of the rear torsion bar FWD cars and something you should learn to expect and avoid when possible. By braking hard, too late and lifting off the throttle it was probably inevitable.

tbh thats a harsh analysis of 17 year olds, if thats the case why is the age so young for a test?
what has age have to do with a thing surely youve reached an age were maturaty and peare pressure isnt an issue sadly this isnt the case as shown.
i may be 18 but tbh ive never once driven like a cock or ''ragged'' my care purely for the fact i respect it and others on the road. he clearly shows he has no car for any one on the roads.
so i dont agree there young they all drive like pricks.

At least the person who was driving was responsible enough to come on here now and say who it was, but see what I put before about "trophies" etc.

He has now learnt the harsh way, but maybe putting on here in the way he did was not such a good idea.
