Ok then. I want to take off my head cover and give it a new lease of life.
This may sound really dumb but is it really just a case of taking it off and then putting it back on again. Are they no seals that need replacing or stuff like that???

Yes, its a rocker cover gasket, but if you take it off and dont damage the bottom you will be fine!

wicked, i just read the how to guide and saw that bit. gonna have a crack at it this week so ill post up some pics of the before and after results.

just had a bash at cleaning up the rocker covers. It took the best part of an hour and i only used white spirit a cloth and some autosol. Here is a picture of what it looked like before:

makes the engine bay look a hell of a lot tidier.

cheers mate,
I split the oil breather hose trying to get the fukker off. dont suppose you have one kicking around do you??? I had to buy some shit from halfords as a temporary fix. And I HATE HALFORDS WITH A PASSION. They really shit on their suppliers.

must have been a good bit of grit in that rag you used, look at the swirl marks in it.

ah, those marks could be something to do with the sand paper wrapper next to it.
Cant see first or last photo either

Get some wet and dry on there mate and it will good, should get rid of the swirl marks as well

I know you have to replace the gasket, not sure about the seal?

you cant see any swirl marks now its in the engine again, i rubbed it down and polished it a bit more after that, the photo has been removed for some reason. probably offensive in some way. :-)
