ive just put a decat on my vts and used a lambda sleeve that i bought from gmc. at first no warning light came on or anything but ive had it on for nearly half a week now and the engine managment light has come on. do u think this is because of the decat? do i just need to take it to a garage to get the light reset?

You need to get it to a garage to get it on a diagnostics machine. That way you can find and sort the problem.

i would say its down to the lambda being off
try takin sleeve off and putting it back on, check the lambda connection under car
also try connections on the manifold
try them before putting it on diagnostics as its easy to check and wont cost a bomb like diagnostics might...
leave battery off whilst doing it, could reset it and be fine after
90% sure it will be that

This will be due to the de-cat. Is the car running fine? Mine took a good few weeks for the engine managememt light to come on, but my mates was like within the week. Like wise when you put the cat back on (i.e for mot time) the light dont go off straight away, the ecu has to adjust itself. Hope this makes sense.

Mines has a decat and ECU had logged a lamba sensor fault but once code was wiped it stayed off

Im sure with a decat that if you have a lambda sensor or not its still going to trigger the engine management light on as its letting too mant gasses through so the lambda will pick up high emissions than standard.
I dont have a lamdba in mine as the decat didnt have a cut out for it so i tucked the lambda sensor out the way and the engine management light is on and off when it feels like it. Fine for a few days then its on for a fews days then off, took it to diagnostics to check, they turned the light off and it was fine for a week, then back on again, then off.
Dont think its anything to worry about if its running right, mine is absolutely fine with it switching on and off.

you need a reset but you need the lamba sensor connected for the ecu to work because the ecu use's it

get yourself a fault code reader from e-bay mate there cheap and save you a lot of money i got one when mine was doing the same all you do is plug in and erase the fault
and your light will go out.

I take it that you have a late S with two lamda's?
The both should be plugged in with the first one conected to the exhaust & the second one sleeved!
