Very juddery on start up

Ok when i start my car it is very juddery and loud, and when driving not very responsive. and the engine management light is on.

at a guess im going to say its not firing up on all cylinders (read this somewhere else on here but cant find the thread now).

any ideas on how to fix this problem?
or if it is something completely different?

sounds like youve got a engine misfire, would be wise to check the basics first, check all the spark plugs, coil pack, ht leads, if you know someone who got a diagnose tester plug it in, as the code will help find the fault, but have a look around first!!

i had same problem - changed plugs and leads then still did it. got a coil pack and was fine. make sure the leads are plugged into correct terminals tho. some idiot had crossed them so lead 1 was in the "2" slot and 2 in the "1" slot. it carried on making the same misfires until they were swapped as it fires the secondary spark first. mine was £38 thru trade but £115 if i had got it from halfords or citroen so have a hunt round
