If you have a budget of £100 then i would go for some of these mate.

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/dls-b5a-p-5114.html

They will give you a better sound than the spl's and the hertz, and also, they wont need to be driven as hard to sound better.

But what amp will you power them with?

coonper, just the man i was looking for

ive been looking at a few dls items today, subs etc

i notice theyre not putting out huge power, so im guessing quality is sweet as a nut?

from what i can see im impressed! reccommended for quality over other choices under £100?

I would go for the DLS over the hertz or spl's any day. They are all about the quality, but obviously will still blare out as loud as any other speakers you could buy.

These will need a nice amp to power them though! Something with finesse that will put out a nice 70-80 watts rms to each channel.

indeed, im running a kenwood amp at the min, again bought it at my peril, this was before i knew about audio

and i know what you think of kenwood :P

might run them off the kenwood for a while though, untill i decide to buy another better amp, could afford an amp i guess, but im starting to save for a rainy day, so not willing to spend everything

What power will the kenwood put out?

It will do the job fine, and it is better than a lot of amps out there, such as juice, toxic, renegade etc... lol

Get them DLS comps mate! Awesome!;)

lol yeah cheers, at 4ohm it will be giving 55watt rms, and iirc the dls were 50watts rms, so pretty equal on the power side of things,

as i said was looking at various dls products earlier, seems quality is the name of their game ;)

just collecting ideas at the min, but dls seem to be at the top of my list, and with free delivery aswell :P

Well dont be turning the gain up on that amp, cus it will start to send out a dirty signal to the speakers, and they wont like it one bit! When you clip them, thats it, say bye bye! lol

Keep the gain set conservatively, and dont blast the shit out of them. The moment you hear any kind of distortion, BACK OFF!

If you power them with 70rms, you will give them a clean, unclipped signal and they will play louder and will be better quality.

I always overpower my speakers. Much better than underpowering them imo:y:

lol dont worry, ive read csvtrs advice on power ratings, so ill definatly be cautious on the gain

speaking of gains, my mate just got a new amp, turned the gain all the way up (stupid i know) and blew his sub... ive noticed a lot of people are ill informed about car audio (not saying i know everything, but a considerable ammount more than a lot of people who just assume they need stuff with a big peak power)

It used to make me laugh when people came in and asked for the loudest 6x9's we sold!

I'd tell them to go for the jbl's which were 70rms, but they still went for the sub zero's cus they said 400watts on the box!! haha!!

We once got one lad come and buy a sub zero 2 channel amp (25x2 rms), and he ran a JBL sub off each channel!! Sounded Awfull, but he loved it!!!

haha... i was in halfrauds the other day too, looking at audio (to make it clear i was NOT buying) lol

but i felt sorry for the people there who were about to splash out on over priced crap tbh..

fusion all over the place, its like my worst mightmare lol
