new sub

Ive got a jbl gto1202d (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/4027.html) atm but my amp is uderpowering it by around 60w. (FLI 800s 240rms to sub)
Its volume is fine if not too loud but i think the SQ is pretty bad so am going to get a new sub.
Want a sub with good SQ around 200 rms. I am looking at getting this alpine one (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/8426.html). This isnt DVC but not sure if that makes much difference. Just thought id see what some experts thought;) Budget is roughly £50

Or would it be best to get a 10" sub?
Rather get a 12" as ive already got a box, but can buy another one if a 10" is best. (or make one but not sure how difficult it is to do well)

Its definitely not the sub mate! Its the amp;)

If you get a monoblock amp which will put 350-400 rms into the sub you will be happy.

And also, what box have you got?

Just a standard ebay box. But to get a resonably good mono you have to pay quite a lot from what ive seen. Its not 'bad' atm just not very good.

This would be ideal, however, you will struggle, because your sub is dual 2 ohm i bet!

So you need an amp that is 4 or 1 ohm stable, therefore a bridged 2 channel might be your best bet, cus most of the time they bridge to 4 ohms.:y:

Wasnt looking to spend much more than £50 really as im going to uni in Sept so wont need a car. I'll look for second hand suff probably. Will it just be a case of splitting the power, remote and rca wires to the mono amp yeh?
