Was anyone else a bit nervous before doing this. :panic:
Want to do it this weekend but bit concerned i might melt the bastards haha.
What temp/gas mark did people do it at? Did people have any problems when doing it?
Also, did everyone take their bulbs out before heating because the guy didnt in the guide? And finally, should i laquer on top of matt black paint or not for the best smoked look?
Cheers yall. :y:

Hi mate, if your worried about doing them in the oven then dont. I used a paint stripper heat gun to do mine. Just heat up the glue stuff and give it a bit of gentle persuasion ftw!

200degrees - with a pizza underneath, perfect!! lol, sorry couldn't resist.
I can imagine you put them in with the lowest heat so like 80degrees, test it yourself, try the lowest heat for 10mins, then work your way up until the glass comes off fine. I'd take the bulbs out as well!
Sorry can't help anymore - but I think you'd lacquer ontop.
People will confirm though.

I also used a hair dryer to get mine apart,
havnt done anythingwith them yet tho, but do you REALLY have to paint the plastic bit (mk1 headlights btw) cos if you just take it out and put the glass back on its all black anyways lol

Did most people who used a hair dryer, heat the glue up again to put them back together, or put more silicon on????

i just used the old stuff and i scooped loads out with a screw driver... its really strong stuff i placed the glass on and realised i didnt clean the lense so i had to pull it off and even with out heating it back up it was hard to get back off
