Hey peeps, i've just been talking to Tazz off here about my own place and wanting one.

Not sure what costs are nowadays ie how much it would cost to rent and live for a month?

Just a rough idea, even thought maybe sharing with someone would be a better idea?

On a house or flat?

I'd only be looking into a small 1-2 bedroom flat, depends if i share... In a nice tidy area somewhere, not really looked far into it, just wanna get the gist of prices.

even in a manky student house with 4 or 5 sharing you will be looking at £350 a month in rent. add to this food, and stuff like tv liscence, internet etc and it gets expensive. you will pay more to live in a place with less people, the cheapest places will be shared houses for students were every one gets a box room and there are 6-8 people living there

have a look on a local estate agent's website at rentals, specify house/flat, one or two bedroom, furnished/unfurnished etc. that should give a rough idea at the rental cost, then add on for bills: electric and or gas, council tax, tv licence, telephone, insurance, food.

Best thing to do mate is rent with a mate, that way you get to save some money too rather than having to pay out everything. Atleast that way if anything happens, you have money aside! atleasy while in the first couple of years... but if ya do this.. make sure you both agree on whats acceptable / not acceptable BEFORE you move in, otherwise its too late.

I have my own 3 bedroom house and a morgage costs are:

£380 morgage
£300 for bills ( not on a water meter )
£84 council tax

Then you have general things such as shopping, car insurance etc etc etc

All depends where you choose to live, how much you earn etc etc, not a cheap thing to do these days tho!!

I think if i got a share with someone then it can be done, not on my own atm.... Unless i get a new job, but i want to do an apprettiship or something so i can get into a trade.

for a 2 bed terraced:

rent 350-450
council tax 80ish
tv/phone/broadband: £20 if your with the right supplier
tv licence £12
water/gas/elec £60
food £200?

then remember your car fuel, insurance

then every day expenses.

alot cheaper to get a private letting than going into an estate agents, you wont have to pay as much fees.

if private usually a months rent and bond (another months rent)

Nothing cheap these days :n:

Looks like you could rent a 2 bedroom flat for around £450 - £500 a month. Split that 2 ways and it's only just over £200. Then add in all the other bills. £700 max for everything.

Lucky bastard. 2 bed house in Guildford is about £800 - £900 before bills :(
