I bought my first off my cousin. Was a 52 plate 1.1 with 40k on the clock for £1400. Treated me well, i didn't need to do anything to fix it and was a fine run about.
Then bought an xr2 which was awesome but not practical so i bought a vtr off Karl. Was cheapish and looked alright. Again was fine to run about in, nippy when i wanted it and a right laugh. In the end i just wanted something a touch bigger. Would have a vts if i didn't do my job.

ive always liked the stlye of them! before i got it i knew nothing about cars lol but now its all about the engine.
i was torn between a
106 quicksilver
306 XL
corsa C 1.7 tdci
saxo westcoast
106 xsi
out of all of them i got what i thought was the slowest, but its actually quite nippy, and i love the look of it :p

Bought it over 4 years ago now, mainly got it because of the colour and the alloys that it had on it at that point in time.
And my bro convinced me it was worth it traveling from Leicester to Reading to get it :D

Never driven or even been in one prior to buying mine, read a shed load of reviews and then decided on it!
i love it because when i over take big 2.0litre cars the look on there face (its only a saxo) is priceless and never gets old!
once you mod it so it roars, you will never get bored!

originally flew to manchester to get a 106gti and after some prick stood me up the next day in warrington i went on the net in manchester rail station and fell in love with a black vts in southampton, so i boarded the train the next day and got it that evening.
positives of a saxo,
look great,
very quick for what they are and you can suprise alot biger cars,
cheap to run and parts are dirt cheap,
lengend on back road and track where most other cars you'd be a bit nervous of a corner.
comfortable and nice to drive.
when you get used to the pedals it can shave nearly seconds of lap times imo due to quicker braking and accelerting techniques

Got the VTS as I wanted something easy on juice, good handling, cheap and able to surprise the big-boys off the lights. It served its purpose well, was very reliable while I had it and I was sad once it was sold... still miss it's cheeky character sometimes.

I got mine about a year and a half ago. did over 15k miles in it, and the headgasket went again. It was a Mk1 1.1 though and had 110k miles on the clock so its to be expected.
Then bought the XR3i as a project/restoration. Never got insured on it, but drove it around my uncles huge barn thing. Didnt like it that much, handling was shocking compared to the Saxo.
Next thing on the shopping list is a VTR

The silver one i just drove past where it was for sale at the side of the road and it looked like a nice car for a first car.
Then caught the saxo bug and had to go get the top model VTS but it had to be wicked red.
So now we have 2 saxos :)

Bought mine as i needed a car tbh, but when i got there i could tell the lad was "A FOOL" and that i could take him for a ride and get a good price!!
For example...
One of his selling points of the car was " the blue interior neons"
Stuff the perfect condition white vts rims, great head unit etc, just the Interior Neons..
FOOL!!
Plus he didnt keep the V5 just giv me the whole thing lol
Love it now tho and would not see it go !

My first car was a 1 year old vtr and I was offered a year free insurance. Back then the saxo didn't have the bad image it seems to have gained recently and they were a fairly rare sight on the roads.
Since then I've had a succession of different cars, the main ones being an escort RS2000 4x4 and a VX220, but none felt quite the same as a saxo so I bought my current VTS
Love it because it's quick, cheap and reliable
Rock on

I suppose i can understand some cars not feeling like the saxo, as yes they are amazing to drive really, great handling, nippy ont he B roads etc etc
But how could you go from a VX220 back to a saxo!! I dont possible think i could ever do it lol

i bought my first saxo because i liked the look of it.
In 8 months i found SSC, learnt a few bit about saxos and wanted something newer and quicker so i bought a year old VTR.
It goes tomorrow, going to miss it, dont really want to sell as i cant find another car i like more then my saxo.

2 years free insurance, needed something new and reliable at the time so was happy. then 6 months later i was anally r@ped as car prices had to be dropped to get in line with european car prices so the two years insurance didnt really do much to my savings.

cheap to insure, cheap to run, parts are inter changable with my ax's and the long gearbox of the vtr makes my vtr a good work car.
And getting the vtr means I can keep the ax off hte road until it's how I want it.

An older mate of mine had a modded 106gti when i was younger, i loved it. When i was at college a mate had a vtr, let me have a drive in it and i fell in love straigh away, got a vtr soon after. Had that over 2 years then got a mk2 vts. Its being a cunt to me atm, needs a new steering rack but i love it, handles well and surprises my mates that think 'its only a saxo', plus mines the only vts round my way.

i used to drive a rover 216 16v coupe slightly modded and i loved it and it was blue like my saxo, anyway i started seeing quite a few saxos around modded right up and decided it was time for a change something i can really modify as the coupe was a bit limited, i saw my saxo on auto trader website and fell in love, its a phase2 but with phase1 spoiler and blue dials and the body is imaculate except for one small scratch near petrol cap, i have of course made a few changes since i bought it but it drives great not had any major probs, most cars have thier problems and i bet theres a website for all of them so dont get disheartened by the negative stuff, i love my saxo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bought the first one as it was cheaper than the 106 I came to view and was in much better condition, plus it looked amazing in white.
After writing the above car off, I was after a larger car/safer but test drove another saxo and fell in love again, it handles well, and looks fantastic... there is so much potential in them too :y:

it makes me laugh people thinking their car does 145.
considering the limiter on a vts is 142, and you're never gonna reach the limiter with the aerodynamic properties of a brick wall, it aint gonna happen
