Need Help Please

I am female so have no clue,takes me to drive..

Ok so i got this x reg saxo 1.1.Last week it would not start.Got jump leads & after a few minutes it started.Next day it did same again.Took it to garage,the guy said battery is rubbish,got new battery.
Today i just went out & it wont start yet again grrr.I am getting lights on dashboard,but when turning key fully i get a clicking noise.
I have been told it could be starter or alternator but if it were alternator then
jump leads would not make it start either ?
Please help i am ready for crackin :wall:

sounds like a faulty earth,or faulty alternator!

if the alternator was buggered jump leads to be honest would struggle to start it!

could also possibly be the starter...does the car turn over fast or slow when you turn the key?

It does sound like the alternator isn't charging fully, I'd look for a faulty earth first of all as rapidvtr said then get some new brushes fitted in the alternator also it's worth doing a multimeter test on the battery to check that this one also isn't duff! even though it's new this could be the case! hope this helps!
