Fear of flying?

Been talking to the mrs. We've been planning to go on holiday now, going away in November, not sure where yet.

Anyway she is shit scared of flying. Told her there is no need etc etc but she wouldnt listen.

Did some research into it just to put her mind at ease, found this quite interesting:

1) Flying is the safest way of transport

2) If you flew on a commercial plane, once a day, every day, you could expect to be in a crash once every 29,000 years.

3) 50% of people who are involved in an air traffic accident survive.


She now doesnt care.

all it takes if for one bolt to be miss placed or not tightend properly and a plane could go down. there are laods of plane crashes but alot dont hit the UK news.or they keep them under wrap so people dont get scared

id say its safer to go via boat these days tell me the past 5 years how many boat stories have there been then put that against plane stories hahaha. kinda speaks for itself :P.

You also have to think about how many flights there are a day, thousands, tens of thousands even, and how often do you hear of a fatal plane crash, once every month maybe?

Also the 50% survival comes from the fact that an accident can be the case of the plane just landing incorrectly, eg overrunning the runway.

I see your point but there are risks in any form of transport you take.
facts dont mean a thing if your on the plane that crashes hahaha.
all planes are maintained by humans most human things go wrong unfortunatly its true lol. most air accidents have been due to human error or bad maintinance lol.

so in all honesty its fact something will go wrong but for them to number cruntch something that is so random its a joke.
so they know a plane 2moz may blow up lol so 2moz due to there caculations a plane will loose hydraulic power lol. you see my point hahaha
