last night i went out on my bike, parked up and went to meet the missus
when i got back i had a penalty notice on my handlebars.
i was under the impression that motorcylces did not have to pay.
i did park in a car parking bay as it was empty and no where was safe to park unbstructingly eleswhere and no motor cycle bays
so should i appeal or just stomach it and pay the fine?
sorry about the long thread replies appriciated

How much was the fine? If it's not much, may aswell pay it rather than having loads of hassle if you contest it...

Google something like " motorcycle parking in car bay"
or something or just pay the fine of £25.

Just pay £25. Not worth the hassle mate...

Well if a traffic warden stated you didnt need to pay, and then gave you a ticket, then appeal, however it ususally states at the pay and display machines...

Appeal it... Just send them a fancy letter...

Do I have to buy a pay & display ticket when I park my motorcycle in a car park?
No, so long as your motorcycle is not parked in a car parking bay and is not causing an obstruction. If you do park in a car bay you will have to purchase a pay & display ticket.
Some car parks have designated motorcycle parking spaces. In Mary Arches Street, Bampfylde Street and King William Street Car Parks there are motorcycle parking spaces with security bars (though there are a limited number and they are well used). Many other car parks have marked and unmarked spaces for motorcycles.

If it's only £25 quid, might be more worth you just paying that...You could appeal etc, it would take over 14 days by the time them dicks sort anything, so you'll end up most likely paying the £50 in the end.

Did they get all the details right on the ticket? Like make of the bike, where it was parked and the date?
Because i got a parking ticket, they put my car down as a ford, i appealed against it and they let me off. :y:

should have bought a ticket and kept it in your pocket, that way the ticket is safe and you can just appeal a fine if you get one ;)

think that explains it all
you parked in a bay, therefore must pay for a ticket
