Would be a different matter if it wasnt you that was driving your car out of your drive...
If someone had stole your car and you looked out the window to see your car being driven out your drive and the cops drive straight by without batting an eyelid you would be screaming blue murder!
Just making sure everything was ok, since it is a strange time to be up and about mate.

that is true in some cases, some police are doing their jobs and are sound, but there are some police who sterotype drivers of certain cars and go out of their way looking for a problem, or something not 100% legal.

yes, but not to pull a random driver for no reason, they should give a reason.
police should look for drivers without tax & insureance, not people with minor infringments, its a waste of tax payers money

Being a young driver in any car is a reason these days. Not fair really but fact. Any illegality is a fair cop. Wether it is tints, zorst 2 loud, illegal lights, u name it. Plus they do the checks on Tax with cameras these days that are linked to the PNC sytem, instant check on valid Insurance.
Face it, we are a persecuted bunch, so it makes sense to stay legal... doesnt it?

indeed.
but the reason a get the hump about this is; i forgot to wear my seatbelt for the 200m drive home from tesco, get pulled over, one policeman issues ticket we had a chat about it, very nice chap. Other policeman, walks around car, makes little comments, bout m.o.t, tax etc, he checked my tires. just was a contrast between the two.

yeah the guy was doing his job but if you was there which you wasnt you would know he was beeing an idiot towards me, if he was beeing genuine about it then there would be no post about getting pulled! he obvously just thought he would escape the bordom and try to intimidate me!!! that is not doing his job!
:n:
they have computers which check mot tax insurance so why was the need to ask if he already knew that already.

There's like a thread about the police doing this and that everyday... getting boring, really.
Always going to be some police who are cunts, and some who are decent and show you respect, it's life... get on with it.

No idea.... they seem to think it works. I was "interviewed" once or twice using the same routine inside the local nick. It can be very intimidating, maybe they just dont know any better and are focusd on their target nicks...

police have to give a reason,i know they can give loadsa reasons but still have to give one, same as body search.
although the police didnt have actually done anything wrong as far as i can see,and yes iam not keen on traffic cops, normal cops can pull me over all day long as most of them are nice, down to earth genuine people, traffic are just nosy buggers lol.

If you choose to own a car notorious for being owned by little boys who race them, don't insure all their 'mods,' front etc then you have to be prepared to be treated like on of them. That's just the way it works, and like someone else said - you'd have been kicking off at the ol' Bill if someone had knicked your car and they drove past.
I was once walking with my ex girlfriend near to where I live and it was 11pm or so me thinks..an odd time to be out walking. Anyway, a cop car pulls up and we ignore it and keep walking as the car was still driving, he then stops and yells out his window for us to stay where we are. I asked him why, he ignored me and said he would be out the car in a minute. Seconds later two 4x4 cop cars come racing down the road towards us - sirens and lights on - the ex-missus was bricking it. The cop who stopped us then gets out, shines his torch in my face - gets back in his car and they all start leaving. I politely yelled to him 'what was that about?' (to paraphrase - 'what the fuck's your problem? You not even going to apologise, my girlfriends' shaking she was that frightened - I want your name and badge number for this shit.') Biggest glare ever, followed by 'we're looking for two people involved in a robbery..it's not you.'
I thought the whole thing was laughable, I put it down to us walking at a funny time of night. That and I was wearing a jacket with the hood up, so I probably brought it on myself. If I go jogging/cycling at odd times in the morning I expect the fuzz to stop me and I'm prepared for that now - just doing their job!!

So if someone nicked your car at 4.55 in the morning, and the cops saw them reversing out of your drive, and they thought to themselves... "Lets not stop him and see what he's doing, he might get pissed off"
You wouldn't mind?

I did Law in my first year of college, and somewhere between me not turning up and answering most questions with 'we should bring back capital punishment' (or sometimes 'nail them up' for short) I remember something about the ol' Bill having to state why they are stopping you - but I guess sometimes this isn't the best thing to do; for example if they said to you 'We think you might be nicking this' or 'We want to see if you are drunk' and you were, you'd have told em to fook off and gone back inside - thus being able to drive after they've gone. So if you were pissed you could have then killed someone later - all because the cops told you what they really wanted to find from you :) If you see what I mean!

:y: So true, the country would be fucked if it wasn't for the law. You think you're saxos would still be parked outside if there was no police?!
they have computers which check mot tax insurance so why was the need to ask if he already knew that already.
I got pulled a while ago (stupidly small plate, my own fault and I knew the risk) copper was sound, explained it the plate was hard to make out and if my car was nicked one night the police might miss it coz of the small plate.
Then gave me a producer, asked him about the computer database thing he said it wasn't that reliable!
Yeah some coppers are twats, as are a lot of people!
