Got pulled the other night, checked insurance blah blah and it came back that the m.o.t on the car ran out in April which i never realised as i was 100% sure i got a full years mot with the car when i bought it last september thing is i cant find my previous mot certificate, ive just got my car mot'd this morning and been to produce my new mot certificate, this women saw to me and asked why i never had a valid mot at the time i was pulled, i admited it was a genuine mistake and i thought it had a years on from sept last year, she started writing down everything i was saying and told me id have to go to court and could be looking at fine, points or both.

Now after talking to the bloke when i was getting my mot he said its not an endorsable offence to have no m.o.t can anyone shed any light on this....

Surely when you get a new MOT its for 12 months?

I got caught without an MOT before, thought it ran out the next day, copper was fine with me because i honestly thought it did, so he just said i have 'ran' out of the ticket that gives you a £60 fine, us gingers have to stick together!

So i lol'd and was on my way

Anyway moral is i beleive you can be fined £60

yeah ive checked my mot it did run out in april but could of swore i had it till september, when i told the police who pulled me he said it could of been dodgy, going to rip the house apart tonight and try and find it

You all got mobiles so set a reminder in the thing for tax, Insurance and MoT renewal dates, a couple or 3 weeks in advance of expiry will save you shedloads of money, hassle and points :y:

I had exactly the same thing last week mate, thought everything would be ok, then asked if i had MOT when i actually got stopped, i said no i didnt but i wasnt aware, then he started the whole " you do not have to say anything....." i got pretty angry tbh. apparently its up to the officer that stopped you as to whether you get fined or not, good luck tho mate!

Driver is repsponsible to make sure the car has MOT - when you bought the car did you not check the certificate?
