What do you think in performance diff?? xsi only a 1.4 but 2 bhp more!! ??

not driven the 106 so i cant personally comment but parkers says the 106 is slower than the mk2 vtr but quicker than the mk1 vtr, which is a load of bollocks imo.

according to parkers

106 xsi - 0-60, 9.7s - top speed 118mph
mk1 vtr - 0-60, 9.9s - top speed 116mph
mk2 vtr - 0-60, 9.1s - top speed 120mph

those stats are certainly wrong though. there is no major difference between the mk1 and mk2 vtr, certainly not 0.8s in the 0-60 speed.

Well my bro and a few mates all have vtr's and i can honestly say the mk2's pull away from the mk1's all day long and yes there is a noticeable diff 0-60

I guess mine will be on par to a mk2 as its stripped

if the xsi is post cat model it's 95bhp, and only 78lb/ft compared to the 100lb/ft of the vtr. and it'll only weigh 50kg less as std, the gearbox does help though.

i wasn't impressed by my xsi when i had it, scrapped it within a week lol

Mine is pre cat so 100bhp and fully stripped etc so maybe a tag quicker i guess :P

i have never raced a mk1 and mk2 head to head or seen anyone else so i cant say for sure but i was under the impression that they were roughly the same?

i would expect a stripped out xsi to be quicker than a standard vtr, if its been stripped properly that is. none of this just removing the back seats rubbish. you can shed a good bit of weight with some serious stripping.

Was out with two mates with these the other day mate, an XSi and a MK2 98 brake VTR. Neither could pull away, but the VTRs in perfect order and the XSi is running lumpy with coilpack issues at the mo. And its on 129k and not particularly loved, so Id say a well treated XSi will kill VTRs

my xsi was the 1.6 version, i could pull from standard vts's myn was of course moded and stripped, but i used to love the look on their face as a 8v just pulled past lmao.

1.6 does a vtr. 1.4 should do due to the gearing. IMO anyway.

the 1.6 had so much torque it was unbelivable, used to struggle to keep in in straight line in the wet, motobruce lenham and domvtr can vouch for that, as they have drove it lol

All sounds good its the pre cat 100bhp one and fully stripped so hopefully my little bro in his mk2 vtr wont be leaving me
