I started my car earlier and the engine management light stayed on, the engine was turning over slowly and heavily and when i accelerated their was hardly any power but every couple of seconds it gained a slight bit and jumped slightly more into life but then returned to hardly anything after about a second...HELP PLEASE!

um this sounds like the timing of the engine maybe out or your battery does not have the correct voltage to power the engine system!!! its hard to say any more infor dude???

well don't know if this helps but i know that as a safety precausion as soon as the engine management light comes on some cars the ECU restricts the amount of power given from the engine as a kind of safety feature, might solve part of the problem, although doesn't solve why the light is on in the first place.

cheers, i'm not sure, its now running ok, but the light sometimes comes on still... don't have a clue why it did that the other day so i'm giving it a service and take it to the garage to get the timing etc looked at to see if it helps!

i had this aswell once.
just driving along as you do and engine light comes on and theres a harsh vibrating response from the accelerator pedal rahter than actual acceleration.
the problem woth mine was there was(well i think anyway...)there was some crap in the petrol tank and the injectors may have been clogged up with it.
i just rolled into a layby in netral switched the engine off for a few minutes and pumped the accelerator a few times to get fuel into the engine...

the remedy is dont let your fuel go too low and fill up before the petrol light comes one.get some propper injector cleaner aswell.dont get that redex stuff or whatever its called, can do more harm than good so get a decent injector cleaner if you do get one at all....

hope that helps
