When you buy a car privately how would you pay if you had the money in your bank account but it was too much to pay with in cash?

My car cost me just under 6k, I put a deposit of 2k by cheque, than payed almost 4k in cash on collection. Had to travel 125 miles by train on my own with 4k cash on me lol!

Forgot to say I don't have a cheque book (don't no why!! lol) and i don't really fancy carrying £6k in cash around. Is there no other way to do it?

it normally easier to pay in cash because people selling cars want the money there and then, so they settle for a smaller price if it's cash up front....can save you sum money when buying a car

i bought my car for 2K cash, rather than 2500 that he wanted for it

yeah say you'll pay cash and ask for 300 off. They could say yes... downside, you have to lug around a lot of money.

Paid for both mine in cash wasnt spending as much as you but as mentioned does help u get the price down if you've got a hanful of cash to wave in their face. 20 on the top of a pile of 10s ftw :P
