Does anybody know how much a gear selector costs roughly for 2001 vtr?

u mean inside the gearbox?

No sorry,my mechanic told me it was held on with 2 bolts and had rubber at the top then rod from that to the gearbox,but anyway he said its the rubber bit thats broke and if i replace that unit it was a 5minuite job,but he deffo said it was the called the gear selector,the problem was the gearstick was stiff and squeekey so he said he noticed that rubber was full of shit and broke,so cleaned it up,it did work for a couple of hours but now its the same again,so hes told me
i have to buy that part.

i think you mean the gear linkages? and the rubber bit is the ball joint on standard ones?
