So what do you guys think about old school cars like the mk2 golf,205 and rs turbos?
Would you get one or do you thing it will be to much hassle to find a good one then do it up, because im thinking of getting a mk2 golf but do know if it would be worth all the hassle trying to fix.
So whats your thoughts on old school cars worth it or not

my option would be to source a good chassis and panels then worry about engine and gearbox. there are so many rust buckets out there its gonna be hard but not impossible and be prepared to spend good money.

Prepare to spend alot of cash and put loads of time & effort but imo it's so worth it. kcsaxo is right though you want to find one with as little rust as possible you could always put a completely different engine/gearbox setup rather than trying to find an original 1.
Bloke down my road owns 3 Original Escort RS Turbo's they are so mint but cost him a bomb. I'd love to re-condition a Lancia Delta one day!

You can pick them up cheap if you look...
My mate got a MK 2 golf for £50,
Resprayed it for £300 (prepped it all, and his mates a sprayer)
Replaced a few things but sold the old stuff so lost no money,
Then sold it for £900.
Just take time finding one.

The old schoolers rock, but I wouldn't buy one. Old school cars are lovely in memory but these days they would need alot of money thrown at them, plus many specialist parts are harder to source as they're stopped being made etc... Lovely to look and appreciate them for what they were, but to have one as day to day transport? I'd pass...

I had an XR3i for about 4 months. To be honest, its quite hard to find a good condition one, but when you do it can be better than buying a brand new car.
Its good to see some good condition old school cars about, they are obviously alot rarer nowadays, but i think they are more of a headturner.
309 Goodwood is next on the cards for me hopefully if i find a good condition one :)
