As above really.. Im with BT but everytime we get a bill its wrong, have to spend ages trying to sort it out then when you think its all sorted they mess it up again.

Thinking of changing providers.. but will it affect my sky / internet ect?

I only use it for the standard line rental which I believe was needed for sky?

I have no idea of how it works so just need a bit of advice from the Saxp Massssssssive.

Thanks

Broadband = o2. I'm on a 8mb line with no download limits, £7.50 per month. If you don't have a O2 contract phone, it's £12.50, which is still stupidly cheap.

Line Rental: Unless you live in the northeast, the ONLY line rental you can have is Openreach. Other providers state they can do your line rental, however, this is still owned by Oenreach.

Cheap Minutes: Depends what you use the landline for? If you have a mobile, use up your minutes more often. If you use your landline on evenings and weekends, mostly dialling 01/02 numbers, go for BT Option 2, this gives you free evening and weekend minutes, plus you get the line rental etc all on one bill.

Mobile/International calls: If you want cheaper minutes to mobiles/international numbers or premium numbers, have a quick look on google for companies than can override these numbers with a carrier preselect. This basically means you dial a number such as '397' then the mobile number. BT do not charge you for this call, you will be billed by a different carrier/provider.

I'm sad.

All I do anyways Dan, got free calls through sky and any calls i do make are charged to sky who then charge me. If that makes sence..

I only use BT for the land line but it gets annoying have to ring up every time I get a damn bill.

Got our bill on friday... this morning we got a termination notice. Takes the piss. Just gave them a ring the guy couldnt even understand me.

I very much doubt any provider will take on ONLY your line rental..

If BT are still charging you for calls, this is SKYs fault, not BT.

BT arent charging me for calls.. Iv not said anything about them charging me for anything but LINE RENTAL.

Just We have problems with the bill every time it comes through.

Last month we had a 160 cancellation charge added to it.. we hadnt cancelled anything. Time before that the line rental was 40 odd a month when its £11.25 a month.

I have a problem with there stupid billing teams and customer service.

Seeign as the two companies are basically one, it's funny how much shit they get wrong, I see it every day!

You could try changing provider, but It's unlikely anyone will want you as a customer for the sake of £1 profit per month, it would cost them more to generate the invoice and take BACS payments etc.

BT have been having problems with their billing systems apparently. I took out a contract with them last September to pay a monthly direct debit to cover line rental and the cost of the calls and for a bill to be sent out 10 days before they took the money so I knew how much would be coming out. I recieved no bills and no money was taken from my account. I phoned every month to find out what was going on but according to their records a bill was being sent and there was no money outstanding on my account. They had the right bank details and address so it should have been all ok. I wanted my account number so I could check my account online but they couldn't give it to me. I finally got a bill through on saturday, 9 months after setting up my account for line rental and calls from 15th February onwards for £104. I phoned up to complain that I should have been paying this monthly and now have a big bill which they are taking out of my account on 2nd July. As a gesture of goodwill they aren't charging me for the first 5 months which isn't too bad but I still have to find £104 by 2nd July.

I'm like you, I want to change provider but need a BT landline for my Sky. I might go with Virgin media instead when my Sky contract runs out early next year

Aye, I rang them up and BT said i have a 12 month contract with them.. and iv only been in my house 7 months, so i have another 5 months of shitty bills that are incorrect and im not paying to cancel the "contract".

Really annoying tbh, they are just a bunch of tossers with there forgien call centres

Right, Got in today,

Tried logging into my online banking and i mucked it up, so tried calling My bank ,to find my phone line was a dead line.

Tried calling bt customer care from the phone, nothing, tried calling the land line and still nothing.

Ended up using my mobile to call them!!

Got through to someone, my line has been deactivated!!! No reason what so ever to cut me off!

Only paid me bill yesterday and it was due today!! Rang them up and gave them a mouth full! not gonna be able to have my phone line working untill tuesday now and iv made a complaint.

So pissed off and stressed out with it all :(

Whatever you do do not allow them to fob you off. I used to work for Virgin Media in the Customer Care department and my sister had some problems with her BT bill and they fobbed her off as she isnt one for arguing, as soon as i started dealing with BT they apologised and gave a goodwill gesture to apologise for the way she was treated.

Seems to be BT customer service aint very customer orientated.
