Got scooby back at long last and fitted is a data logger which is to monitor peak values of everything the car does. I reset it when i took car in and went to collect it and guess what it has done 124mph, peak rpm was 8229 which limiter is as 7300rpm and ive never managed to get above that but now it revs to that and feels like its going to blow up.

Max boost 1.5 bar, coolant 100c well above normal, so insurance company are very annoyed and there coming to collect car in morning and take to subaru and get dates and times and speeds from ecu and were not accepting car back and want full pay out of market value of car as it was my pride and joy and i would never have driven it like this.

Rant over.

in the top gear car survey they rated a lot of mercs very low down.. simply because of the absolutely shite customer service.. looks like with your dad, it was no exception!

Not quite sure where you're coming from saying the insurance co are collecting your car. Why?

Yes i want a new car as im not happy at all they have neglected mine ok they say i did to there lease car which isnt theres anyway and ive just paid um 500 repairs for 1 handbrake

I'm sure it was £300 in an earlier thread ;)

Without sounding harsh that really is the wrong attitude to take, especially on a public forum. If anything happens there and someone sees this there is a pretty good case against you

Had a look through both threads and i don't think we are getting all the facts.

If you have had this datalogger put on surely subaru would not need to look through the ecu? Im not really sure how the data logger works but i cant see the company repairing your car going to the hassle of changing its rev limiter.

IMO an impreza is quick enough without changing the rev limiter. Also i thought the car went in for bodywork - nothing mechanical.

Something doesnt add up tbh, am i the only one that thinks you forgetting to let the handbrake off wiffs of bull s*t.

I agree.. I work for toyota and even though cars get taken out and driven hard(ish) i doubt any mechanic would 1. change the rev limiter (job times and precious BONUS lol) and 2. do 124mph.. as far as im concerned it aint worth my job and my license (and my time pissin about with the tester changing the rev limter) just for a quick blast..

May be wrong, but does sound a bit off imo..

Arseholes mate.

My car is currently in the garage, was due out tonight but still not finished! I hate the fact they could rag it and I'm sure mileage was 27,769 when i dropped it off lol.

Jamie
24th June 2008, 22:04
Hmm, public forum best not lol.

All i can say is where did you get this data logger i want one, & mate that is really shit, i bet the car dont feel like its yours anymore!

Always zero your guage when you drop your car off at a garage.

Gutted for you mate.

Always zero your guage when you drop your car off at a garage.

Gutted for you mate.

They could zero it back though ;)

That's why I always take notice of the mileage as I leave the car plus how much fuel I got in.

I remember the story Simo told me a couple of years back - his VTS was in the Citroen garage, obviously with it been turbo etc they decided to start revving it etc as he could hear dump valve going off, turns off they knackered a piston or something along those lines.

if markastra drove with the handbrake up or handbrake turned it.. its no reason for 500 quids worth of damage...

hope it all gets sorted mate...

CampDavid
25th June 2008, 12:17
This is a bit messy. On the one hand you've been stopped and damaged their car, they want £500 for the damage, which I understand that you've paid. If that's the case, that's done and closed. You damaged it, you paid for it, end of story, done.

Now they have damaged your car. You have proof from the datalogger, however you need to really get legal advice. Getting angry won't really help, you need to take the view that they have done this to your car, can you prove it (is the datalogger inadmissable as evidence?) and if so, how much can you get out of them for the damage? At a guess you can do all of these things and get a fair amount out of them, and you almost certainly can get legal advice from your insurer, so start there.

Good luck

jaybiss
25th June 2008, 12:22
im sure in another thread you said the car was in your dads name?

would this not get yourself in trouble as i take it your the main driver as you needed the hire car? with the rise of insurance companies catching fraudsters, id be careful.

that is if what ive said about you is true.

speak to citizens advice? last thing you want to do is go down there and be angry.

Surely whoeever took it to 124mph is gonna lose their license too?

Chris
25th June 2008, 13:33
Not good to hear that they have messed your car up Mate!!

In regards to the comment about going down there and smashing things up in their yard etc..... OK, thy messed with your car, but the moment you cause criminal damage to any of their property/belongings etc, they will have you in court much quicker than you'd have them in court!! Not worth getting banged up for mindless vandalism just cause they messed your car up!

Chris :)

MJRallying
25th June 2008, 14:48
Surely whoeever took it to 124mph is gonna lose their license too?

Yes too right i will take police in there if they deny driving it and look on there cctv to watch car go in and out and then who ever it was will be in court for doing 124mph.

And all other damage to it will be rectified and subaru themselves are looking at it fully
