yeah a Vauxhall thread!!!! Ive been a vauxhall man for 19 years. Vectra B i take it? the 2.0 is very slow, something like 9 seconds to 60. Its a big heavy car. Ive had a 2.5 V6 sri Vec B before two Vectra C's and that was quicker, but not off the line. The thing with the v6's is they keep pulling once you get past motorway speeds. Some magazine did a test against an impreza once. The impreza was a few seconds ahead off the line, but by the time they both hit 100mph, the vectra had caught up.

the 2.0 though is pretty slow. I had the same ecotec engine in my Astra Gsi and that was ok, but to give you an idea...my VTR is faster round the sprint track than my old Gsi.

They are very strong engines though, early cars will be suffering tinworm by now, later cars had lotus designed suspension and sit lower. Go for one of these.

Check out vvoc.com its a club i was a member of for years before leaving the vauxhall camp.

I associate vectras with drug dealers or people you just dont want to fuck with round here... if not old people tbh.... Not something i see as a young lads car... personally would rather have a new shape astra gsi or something as i love them, but all on your own tastes mate...

youre having a laugh surely. Even my V6 would struggle against one of those until we got to daft speeds. (and we didnt come across any corners where the vec would just fall off the road).

seriously, i love vauxhalls but im realistic.

Its not quick just average!!

Heliosphan
25th June 2008, 18:28
Whether it's quick or not depends what you're comparing it to doesn't it?

I once raced a 150 Vec (on a private road) in my Jordan and from around two car lengths behind, I came past him. The guy's face was a picture. My Civic is 158bhp (according to standard) and is about as quick as a VTS.

I'd say the 140 is absolute shite mate if i'm being honest but like I said, It depends what you're used to.
