Easy players!

Recently purchased an lpine head unit second hand (£40, not bad :P) and I have successfully fitted it in my 1996 P-Reg Saxo Sx 1.1i (almost successfully anyway). Theres a fairly noticable gap around the edge of the cd player where the massive old stock head unit was, wondering:

1) if i need / where i can get an outer trim to go around the edge of the CD player?

2) what the technical name for this "trim" is?

3) if this is the cause of my CDs skipping? (is the head unit loose or have i badly wired it?) would a "trim" hold it in place?

Many thanks boys and girls, James.

It should have come with the unit, if not then whoever you bought it off owes you one :P

Wouldn't know where you would get a replacement, find one in the scrappies that fits yours?

Think it's just called the head unit surround

is this an alpine part that should have came with the unit? or a saxo part which they manufacture?

cheers, do you think this is why my CDs are skipping? are these designed to support the head unit or literally fill the empty space and makeit look complete?

this shouldnt be the reason that your cd's are skipping, as houston said its fine i didnt have on mine for ages.
tbh your cd player is either dodgy or cd's are fucked?

yeh im gonna measure it and see if it looks like it might fit, according to the desc: "suitable for all after market car audio units." we shall soon see, i have a feeling it might just be a loose wire or something when i wired it up, block connector may be loose or something :O

defo not cd's as i burnt them today, all 3 do it. i will have a look at the wires, it cant be a particular speaker wire as all of the soun shuts off cokpletely for about half a second when i go over a bump, and i dont think its the power because it stays turned on even though it plays no sound, what other ones might it be?

headunits are often made to a universal size also known as DIN i beleive..

a DIN adaptor for a saxo will fit with all DIN headunits
