well done on passing mate, yee its the norm for insurance to go up after passing, well ya wont have to pay £100 a week as that would be a quote of £5200 lol.

Alot of people have had this. Have a little shop around but the chances are Quinn will be pretty decent even at that price.

Yep your right there its unreal
all insurance companies increase the price when you pass. As stupid as it sounds you will now be a higher risk as you will be driving on your own without an experienced driver next to you - you will also be driving alot more which when common sense prevails you increase the risk of having an accident - therefore increasing the risk of your insurance company having to pay out.
It really is the norm im afraid

My insurance didn't go up. Can't remember if I was with Quinn or Elephant though. £1k seems a bit steep though.

Quinn are shit. I really don't know why people go with them (probably cos half of the people don't realise quinn charge an extra grand when you pass!)
I passed like 2 months ago and went with Direct Line. They didn't want any more £ once i'd passed either. Cost me £1,600 but that's on a 1.4 Furio :y:

Quinn are notorious for whacking the prices up when you pass - mine went up £700.
I'm now with Bell who are very reasonable provided you can pay the fee in full - the charges for paying monthly are mental!

I got my VTR a few months after passing my test and quinn insured me in my own name tpft for £976 which i thought was pretty reasonable sayin i was 17. Now a year on with a years no claims its now £689. Not bad like?
I think Quinn give the cheapest prices around, well certainly in N.Ireland, but apparently when it comes to payin out theyd do anything to get around it?

Direct line do not let you mod your car.
I was with them on my 1.1 and I was paying around 800 as a named driver when I first passed.
Had to change to Quinn when I got the furio so I could add them mods.

Nice one on passing your test but I don't understand why you did not find out how much your insurance would be once you've passed. Its like buying a car without an insurance quote and then when you get your quote you complain about how much it is.
