this is stupid read this -when i was 13 i was in a fatal car accident in a 205xs i was only the passenger and i had multiple head injurys including fluids from round my brain leaking out my ears and nose 4 fractures in my face ( had a face lift ) broken toes and fingers ribs the lot, the biker who hit us died instantly! THE BIKE WAS DOING 120MPH and we were doing 50mph ( do the maths for the impact speed ) I HAD LESS THAN 1% Of surviving my accident and im here now. so thankful ( look sexier now after my crash ) hope this slows you down your m8! and a few days after i found out that the police couldnt prove nothing and no further actions were taken! what a piss take. but hey! thats the world today

Panda drivers who have done the relevant course can be involved in the 'initial' phase of a pursuit but only pursuit trained traffic officers can be involved in the 'tactical' phase. ie the panda can pursue it as long as there is a traffic car that take over or there are units with stop sticks.

Similar Story to my mate, we left a friends around 12.30am, along a 40mph road, i was doing 40, then it goes into a 2 lane section so you can turn right, then back into a 1 lane road. He decides to overtake and must of been doing at least 60/65 and on the other side Old Bill, luckily they didnt come after him.

I can't work out if you're incorrect use of 'they're/their/there' is ironic or not..

Moving swiftly on, I thought that any police vehicle checking the speed of vehicles has to be parked in plain sight, else the driver can appeal or the prosecution becomes invalid/illegal.

Not in Hampshire.... if a trained traffic officer takes out a fiesta 'panda car' they cannot chase somebody AT SPEED..... pandas only have blues but no twos!

They are looking to get new focus cars which can persuit but thats not going to happen anytime soon.

twos is the sirens

if it was a traffic car, they will probably have the relevent video equipment in the car. If it was set up to record speeding they can process the driver at a later date as they have evidence.

A panda car shouldnt (well in the met) be involved in any pursuit as they are basic drivers. A response driver is allowed to engage in the inital pursuit after a fail to stop, making off etc. They will call it up on the radio and get a traffic unit to come to them, or if possible an advance driver... In the met they are called area car drivers. They will overtake the pursuit and the response car will back off.

well surely if the "twos" are the sirens all police cars have them?

Well round my way they do, all the focus police cars, which are our panda cars, have sirens.....

All the marked cars with blue lights have them on my borough to my knowledge. Some forces may be different :y:

i have this argument with the police all the time... they have nothin better to do than pull sum one over cause there car looks "suspicouse". i dnt speed no more as been caught to many times and couple of my mates got killed in cars crash... tht dont change the police though...

If you're really that bothered about them not doing fuck all about it, ring up the local police, give them a statement with the reg of both cars (police and fiesta), and the time just saying how appauled you are they didn't do anything about it...

Or you could just come bitch on here.

could go to the police station and tell them time and place. If its like the met, each car has a mobile data terminal. The car can be traced to a location at any time... A bit like big brother in the police...

Also a reason I tend not to believe people when the say they saw a police car speeding like mad as the MDT stores speeds, direction of travel etc (well the sensors in the car do)

I second everything this man has told you. Its the same for us in HAMPSHIRE. The system in every police car can tell control exactly how fast you are going, where you are and if you are using blue lights.

Panda cars down here dont have sirens. HOWEVER soon they going to upgrade to the focus's you are talking about which i believe may exceed the speed limit by around 30mph with blues and twos fitted.

The panda cars just have whirly lights on (the bill style!)

Wow, I thought our Force was bad!! No officer can pursue in a transit type van and we can only pursue motorbikes in exceptional circumstances.

How do pandas respond to immidiate jobs or do you have 'area cars' that go first?

seems the met are better then I thought then lol... Panda cars do basic jobs, response cars go to 'I' calls and area cars go to only 'I' calls and chase...

I have heard that in Kent police all the cars are chase cars
