Im looking at decat pipes on the net and ive found 2 types for the vts, theres one for upto 2001 and one for after it, i presume this is for the 2 lambda sensors but im guessin i dont want a hole for the second as thisll bring the engine light on? shud i get the eairly decat which wont have a hole and tie my second sensor out the way?

cheers ears.

O RLY?, i thought u could trick it by leaving it in clean air to stop the light coming on?

Na i think if you got a sensor in your cat you need a decat pipe with the hole in the side to screw it in ,or you could remove the light bulb behind the dash to stop the light coming on .lol

i think mk2 cats a slightly longer than mk1s so thats what the difference could be.

Yep different lengths.

Is the decat in question Magnex ?

yea it is, was lookin at scorpion ones too,

so the newer decat pipe is longer than the old? and what can i screw into its hole as i dont want to plug the sensor in because of the crappy
light that comes on, ill tie it out the way.

Difference is definatley with or without sensor, ive got a 2003 vts and was struggling to get one with a hole in it as a sensor in the cat, ended up getting one without a hole in and tied the lambda out of the way, brings the engine management light on sometimes but will do even if you have the sensor in as the sensor would be picking up too much pressure/emissions.

Doesnt effect the performance in any way not having the sensor in, just sometimes the light comes on, i went for a 2001 model decat and fits perfect:y:

if you dont fit the sensor the light will come on mate, but if you fit the sensor into the decat the light will stay off. hence why they have made the decat with the screw. it fools the ecu thinking the cat is still there when the sensor is fitted.

No the light will still come on with the sensor in as the sensor will pick up too high emissions like i already stated, i know of at least 3 people with vts and have there sensor in there decat but light still comes on.

Mine comes on like i said now and then without the sensor in as if it would with the sensor in.

so its better getting an older decat and then tieing the sensor out the way, or can anyone confirm this length issue as some people say the newer decat is longer than the old :S

just buy a lamba sleeve, light will still come on

I would just get one for 2001 onward and if it comes with a hole put the sensor in, if it doesnt come with a hole just tie the sensor out the way, ive got a 2001 decat on mine and fits perfect.

ok, only thing i dont want is the light to come on, and i cba removing the bulb, hense why im thinking about getting an older decat so i can tie it out the way and hopefully thisll solve the problem. think thatll work?

The light will come on whatever you do, i just deal with it now lol, cant be arsed to remove the bulb, it comes on and goes when it feels like it.

ok im probally gonna go with the safe bet and buy the newer one, anyone know how to fill the hole on the decat so i can tie the sensor out the way?

think its just a 13mm screw.if in doubt call gmc and get the sleeve too

samcook

mate you need a m18 x 1.5 bolt to fill the hole in the decat
and then a sleeve from gmc to stick it in and tie it out of the way
the engine management light will still come on tho.

strange people get the light on with the sleeve, if it wasn't going to remove the light i would just unplug the lambda.

im having this problem noe and its diom my head in big time! i was runnin decat wiv a standard mani and i had no problems at all. i put my 4-2-1 mani on and it has tripped it out 3 times. now my ecu it throwing up 4 faults to do with the MAP sensors both LAMBDA sensors and my fuel trim which apparantly is my injectors. fuck nos. anyway mate an 18mm sump plug will block the hole for the second lambda an gmc motor sport sell a lambda sleeve for 12 quid. id get one of them an just tie wrap it out of the way. the sump plugs are v2 quid mate so u should be fine either way u go but id gat a mk2 decat pipe so u av a guranteed fit. jet ex exhausts do a stainless 2" one for about 45 quid.

ok ive ordered a newer scorpion decat with the hole from eGay, so the next task is to find a screw for the hole and get a sleeve, is there anything else that can be used instead of the sleeve?
