Over the last few months this problem has been getting slowly worse on my 1.1 forte.

As i'm driving its cuts out constantly. I can drive at part throttle, it suddenly loses all power (I shudnt say it cuts out as it doesnt stall at all). The pedal stays halfish way as well. Then when i out my put my foot down it cuts back in with a jolt as if you've just bump started.

The other symptoms are very erratic idling. At the moment its either idling at 500rpm ish or revving itself up and down constantly anywhere between 500rpm and 2500rpm.

Sounds like a fuel problem to me. Could it be a faulty oxygen sensor on the inlet manifold making the fueling too lean or too rich?

Thanks for your help. Keith.

Yes check the MAF and the Coolant temperature sensor too, both or either can cause this.

Does anyone know where i could purchase a MAF?! I've searched the wonderful wide web but every citroen sensor i find is for the xsara's and despatch vans. Seems odd that everybdy that everybody calls them different names as well..

Thanks for your quick reply by the way kaypee. :y:

check/clean the idle control valve, it could be the fuel filter or the o2 sensor

just spoken to Andrew page parts supplier and my car doesnt have a MAF sensor. Could it be the throttle position sensor any o you guys think?

Would this cause the engine management light to come on?
I have almost identicle problem, and have suggested a replcement of certain sensors on mine, but keep being told that because the engine light isn't on, the sensors are fine.
