Been removing my spark plugs to find they are swimming in oil? The car hasnt been on since about 2pm. Now is the oil supposed to be in the sump?
Thanks.

Kev

I would of thought the oil should of been down there already.. surrely after that amount of time.. does it still get a good spark after cleaning them and putting them back in or none at all ? and also has this happened before, and if not trying cleaning them and see if it happens ago tomorrow. etc..

Yeh, I would have said your gasket is leaking a bit - is very cheap to replace !!

Was the oil on the threads of the spark plugs, or the whole end of the plug was oily?

Mine had it on the threads. Is that bad?

Not really, because when you put new spark plugs in your always suppose to put a little bit of oil on your finger then put it on the threads so it doenst sieze up and so its goes it a bit easier as well.

If there's oil coming out from where the spark plugs are then it could be because they weren't tightened up properly when fitted. The thread which they are screwed into could also be damaged.

When I had the problem it turned out to be that the spark plugs weren't tightened up enough. Easy problem to solve.
