You really need to get this adjusted.

Leave it to long and it could cause premature belt failure which is the last thing you want.

With the nut issue depending on which one you are talking about lower or upper you may have to sacrifice the cambelt cover to remove it unfortunately purely because you dont have any access to do anything else.

You could try getting a flat headed screw driver behind the head of the bolt and try prising it out.

How does the bolt just spin if it's on too tight ?

Having it too tight will affect the life of the cambelt, plus the life of the tensioner + idler pulley + aterpump bearings. How long they'll last before failing is like a lottery, probably a long time tbh.

To be on the safe side I'd look at loosening it off asap, to maximise the life of the parts, and to quieten down the ride, lol

The bolts that hold the cambelt cover on are only M5, so just pry it off maybe, or undo them with a breaker bar, but I find it hard to believe someone has tightened up M5 bolts too tight to undo !? Or os the melt insert they screw into just spinning? If so then you'll just have to wrench them out and maybe buy a new back/inside cover (Around £25) but would need cambelt and pulleys off to fit.

I'd look to force them out somehow, I think they are around £25 - I bought the inner one and it was £24 iirc.

i had the same problem with my vts mate apart from it was too late before i realised! the bottom tensioner was on that tight that it sheared the bolt causing the cam cover to stick out and the auxilary belt melted into the cover n both belts jus shreaded up. luckily i wasnt goin very and it doesnt seem like any major damage has been caused, fingers crossed still in the process of removing debray of the 2 belts and trying to remove the sheard bolt :wall:
