Hey guys
I'm after a bike for travelling back and for to work which is pretty cheap to run/maintain
its about 30 miles each way
I will only have a cbt so only allowed upto a 125
I've been looking at a aprilia rs 125, but i think these may be a bit much to run
any suggestions

CBR 125 MATE IF YOU WANT IT FOR WORK
Rs 125 will only give you more trouble then catching a bus would

Hey mate,
I have an NSR atm ( in the dam garage agin! ).
For work and if your not bothered about a blast in the twistiest ( hardly a blast with a 125 although still very fun ) i would look at the CG 125 or the YBR as they can be found easily for <1000 and will run for ever really.
Or you could get a big 125 scooter

i had a van van 125, i kinda liked the odd looks, and the phat rear tyre, not the fastest obviously, but it was comfertable, handling was quite good, not that much of a big juice tank if i remember but it was quite good on juice, its quite good off the mark, i overtook alot of stuff, lol, smoked up well aswell, but i was quite imature at that age.

get a two stroke...
15000km is ok on a 6 year old bike but go for least possible. Ive had a cagiva mito lucky explorer was a heap (i bout a heap DOH) but i loved the bike, it was very big for a 125 and me being tall was great. TBH if you look after a two stroke it'll be fine and they're much quicker than new stuff. My 70cc moped beat a cbr125 SLOWWW.
Rs's are meant to be trouble but i cant say as newer experienced.
Cagiva is meant to be a shit make.. +italian electrics ae meant to be shit... however ive owned a italian moped was great and bloody quickk your choice..

the cagivas and aprilias are the quickest and best looking i believe, but are unreliable
i would rather something more reliable nsr 125/cbr 125 maybe?

4 stroke 125 are slow as sod mate. Like i said if you can tinker a little bit a two stroke will be fine, also the are quicker, have a powerband and if you let it warm up daily and dont red line it every second you will be fine.

Which ever one you want. What im doing is taking my full bike licence either getting a cagiva mito lucky explorer (i like the shape), old rs125 (1999ish black and yellow paint). Cheap to fun, fast enough and cheap to insure.
RS but dont buy rubbish it hurts the wallet.

reading the reviews i think an nsr is a good compromise
more reliable than the rs and mito, faster than the cbr

Well that's what i have mate ( not for long i hope )
I bought a dunger spent £350 fixing it and now has a small starting fault just need to get the dam part ( hard to find )
When it's working it's a great bike, won't be far off the pace against the mitos etc but the NSR is supposed to be the more reliable of the 2 strokes.
I was suggesting the 4 strokes as you only mention commuting to work and for that sole purpose and to save money then you would be better with a 4 stroke.
My brother has a Hysong commet GT (124 4 stroke ) sounds awesome and although a little slower than mine it's a much bigger big - doesn't really look like a 125. He will also get better MPG than me.
I bough mine for fun mostly so i went for the 2 stoke NSR ( soon to be a SV 650s i hope )

If you want reliability over speed, get a 4-stroke.
Somethink like a CG125 or a CBR.

I agian learned on a van van and to tell you the truth the bike is perfect for commuting so comfy and perfect to do the job
CBR125 another good bike that will do you well but its all up to what you want -looks-performance-comfort

All you need to know mate
RS125 - CAGIVA MITO 125 = More problems more money
CBR125 - VAN VAN = Less problems less money more comfy
RS125 - CAGIVA MITO are quicker bikes but a 125 is a 125 if you want a quick bike do your full test and buy a proper bike

the aprlia rs 125 is unbeleiveable at how quick it is with the correct performance mod mate has one with powervalve air filters and exhaust and when you hit 4000 revs it just goes and wont stop its incredible for speed its too quick ! will beat a vts easily .....honesly ive ridden it and its alot of hes owned it over a year and had no problems what so ever but remember they need an engine re build at a certain amount of miles which will cost alot
