from what you will have/get with components and your amp wiring kit, it will become alot clearer when you lay it all out on the floor when you are by the car.
Very easy to do really.
Prob hardest bit is cutting holes for tweeters LOL

most people go for the door - just under the mirror adjuster thing

I've got mine in the doorcard just above and left of the handle.

I've also got some in where the mirror adjusters usually are (yet to be wired up)

I noticed that just under the mirror adjuster would be the best place to mount front speakers, but is there enough room in the panel behind or do you have to buy especially low profile speakers to fit them here?

I was wondering about this because the standard mounting of the front speakers is driving me mad, the volume level in the front is just being wasted on my feet lol.

Excuse the slight hijack...

Some sony headunits have DSO (dynamic sound bla bla??)
Wheer basically you can alternate the position (height etc) of where the sound comes from.
Other than that , like you say.. just uprate the speakers. Some are alot deeper than others and may not fit (rub when windows come down).

So, if this does happen, you can just make up a MDF spacer ring or something to 'space' the speaker out abit, therefore reducing the chances of it being to deep.

nearly right alexsmileys/smiley2.gif

Headunit>speaker wire> speaker wire to INPUT on crossover> wire from mid output to mid> wire from tweeter output to tweeter.

Running speaker to crossover means the the mid will be getting the high frequencies as wellsmileys/smiley17.gif

talking about tweeters, i havent even figured out how to fit them together the box came with about 800 different parts.... i sat it out on my bed yesterday for about an hour trying to figure it out. lol, the only instructions are on the back of the box, and i cut the cardboard ring out for my pods, which has now went in the bin... whoops.

Oh right Scott,
Is that where mine differs then ? As mine has a built in crossover, nothing else with it ?
