Nothing special really as only had about 2-3 hours on this one so only corrected the worst parts this time round.

Anyway, its my mums Colt which she uses as her run around and as seen in the before pics below she doesnt have the time to really look after it, so this being said it hadnt been washed in well over 12 months.

Here's a few before pics....

Not too bad dirt wise considering the time its not been cleaned. Anyway me and my bro set about washing it with AG Shampoo, two bucket method and megs wash mitts.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/danvtr_9/Coltdetail008.jpg

Then dried it with a Poorboys waffle weave towl, which I must state again is a great bit of kit.

We could then see the extent of the paint condition on the bonnet and wings, more of a pink than red.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/danvtr_9/Coltdetail003.jpg

We then clayed the car with a megs clay bar and I used my Poorboys clay on the opposite side. Suprisingly it wasnt too bad apart from the lower half which was covered in tar etc. (thats my bro in the pic not me lol)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/danvtr_9/Coltdetail011.jpg

Once this was done it revealed some nasty RDS and a strange effect near the rear quarter windows.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/danvtr_9/Coltdetail006.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/danvtr_9/Coltdetail013.jpg

I then set about masking the car up and a test section on the bonnet and tried it with a sonus sfx yellow pad and Menzerna ip which with one pass showed good correction and brought the shine back to the bonnet.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/danvtr_9/Coltdetail022.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/danvtr_9/Coltdetail027.jpg

I then did half the bonnet and got a decent 50/50 shot.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/danvtr_9/Coltdetail028.jpg

Then finished it off

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/danvtr_9/Coltdetail029.jpg

And one to show the bonnet done and the difference against the wing.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/danvtr_9/Coltdetail031.jpg

The wings were then done...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/danvtr_9/Coltdetail038.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/danvtr_9/Coltdetail039.jpg

Unfortunately we ran out of time as mum needed the car back, so we did what we could and my bro went round the car with some P21s wax.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/danvtr_9/Coltdetail040.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/danvtr_9/Coltdetail041.jpg

Oh and thats where those RDS were, so I had a go with my new sonus spot pads with Poorboys SSR3, which did the job.

And a pic of the pad after lol

Ideally I would have liked to spend the whole day on it to get it perfect and do the whole car but time wise I dont think we did bad. Also with more time I would have done the arches and the finer details better but please take into account how rushed we were.

That's amazing Dan, good job there, especially if you were rushed :y:

My mums car's just the same, took me 3 hours to do mine, then 5 hours to do hers... serious arm ache after :n: And she went right back and parked under a tree that kept dripping sap... tssk.

Good job :A:

Cheers mate, next time I do it, I'll have it for the full day. The interior is utterly shocking I've never seen anything so bad. So will be a good thread next time.

Should hopefully be doing a mates Merc soon too.

Huge improvement, well done Dan :y:

If you ever want to practise on something to improve your skills I can bring my car down and you can do whatever you want to it lol (I'm being serious btw :P)

Looks nice mate, love working on faded red the differenace always looks amazing to what it was before. Might ask my next door neighbour if I can do his civic sometime lol

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/danvtr_9/Coltdetail058.jpg

Front wing looks like it could have come up a little better but like you said you were limited to time, i'd try a 2 step process next time and see if you can see the difference to just using a 1 step i.e Menz IP followed through with Menz FP on 2 different pads. Glaze it, Polish it and Wax it and you should have a pretty awasome finish. I think you just used 1 there? might be wrong but you only showed 1 pad lol so I can only assume.

Good work though, can't beat getting a little practice in.

good work dan, whizzed the pc over my sisters car last week, got great results, but the camera phone pics are awful!!!!
