Flee123 - Wicked Red VTR - Big update (Anthra wheels, brace, aerial fitted) 13/09/08

Well last week I bought a 52 plate VTR in Wicked Red. It's totally standard and pretty clean (how I wanted it!). Hell of a change from the 1998 1.1 I've been in for the last two years. Parking now isnt a workout!

Got some subtle plans for her, nothing to make it an eyesore.

So first mod was a simple one. Had some spare badges kicking around so scotched them down, plastic primed and sprayed them matt black. Should set it off when I sort some smoked rears out.

Get some AG bumper care on there and get it lowerd then just keep it clean!

Gave it a clean the other day, mainly to check the paintwork out.
Gotta sort a scratch out on the boot next to the quarter on the passenger side. Some of it flatted and polished but think I'll get it painted. Few stone chips too.

Gonna be September by the time I get it lowered :( Going to Ibiza :)
Will sort the lights and so on out soon though

Plans for the next few months will be smoke all the lights. Going to buy the rears and repeaters but will just DIY the headlights and fogs I think, seems straight forward enough. Lowering is on the list too as it's standing lke a jeep, will have to get her booked in at Manic Motors for a 40mm drop.

Got some spray out cards off my dad last night for wheel colour, going to look class. Sort of anthracite-ish but with a twist.

Previous owner has welded steel tube where the chrome bit goes, it's about inch and a half in matt black. Doesnt look too bad tbh, might spray it again til i can afford a decent system.

Not my style at all mate, trying to keep her not far from standard. Just a few subtle mods here and there. Dont like colour coding mind...

Painted my calipers yesterday in the red Hammerite that I bought. Nightmare to clean them down front and back, took ages compared to the painting part but wanted a good finish. Shattered today, was on til seven last night doing them from two after work.

Will look better when I darken the wheels I reckon. Also ordered some new VTR side badges that are in a different font with the R in red. Should be here tomorrow.

While the wheels were off and the car jacked up, I got the chance to Waxoyl all the chassis legs (spraying inside and out), brake lines, boot floor and seams. Anywhere little bits of rust were starting to show really.

Little Update

Done my grille at the weekend with the mesh I bought from TOTB. Just de-slatted, meshed and chevrons done in satin black to match the rear badges, sticking with the subtle mods.

Cleaned the car up yesterday as its been raining for the best part of two weeks. Decidied to go and get some arty shots with my new Olympus camera, to test it out before I go to Ibiza tonight. Went down to an old sand quarry about an mile or two away from mine. Came out pretty well.

Black with an effect over. Will look matt black when dark but edges where the sun catches will be an anthracite-ish colour and really metallic. Really hard to explain but the spray out cards I had done look awesome.

Wheels have been painted bit I'm still yet to see them. Just resprayed the VTR ones in a cool black colour. Lights will be getting smoked in the next few weeks hopefully...

Think I got the idea from seeing an old pic of yours Matt. Deffo wont be getting colour coded, dont like it either on the wicked reds.

Pics dont really do them justice, they look absolutely awesome in direct sunlight or under car park lights at night, hard to describe. Will have to come out with the NE boys sometime so they can see.
