Mario's XSi Thread..

Hi all, well the VTR is up for sale as its too civilised for me..I miss the loudness and stuff of a track car so i bought my bro's XSI..

You all probs know the rough spec..Here's a quick rundown..

Coilvers
New piston rings
Suspected cam??
Stripped
Bonnet lifters
Janspeed Centre section
Lengthened gear stick
Raceland 4-2-1 mani

The list goes on..

Anyways, plans are to tidy her up abit, hammerite the inside white and whack a lovely cage in..all this will be done when the VTR sells..Might hammerite it tomorrow actually as that doesnt cost much..:P

Will be checking the underseal tomorrow and touching it up if its needed, although after a quick look earlier it looks very clean indeed and maybe hammerite the boot area aswell..Will put some more pics up tomorrow aswell of progress etc..

Plans are as follows..

Pugsport Exhaust
Rollcage
One bucket seat
6 point harness
Sparco steering wheel
Flock/Carbon fibre the dash

All these last bits will be done when my VTR sells which wont be too long hopefully..:D

A few mechanics have looked at it and driven it inc a rally prep guy we know and they all say its cammed..Its really lumpy on idle and below 2500rpm its jumpy and shit then as soon as you floor it/rev it out it pulls strong as fuck and then kicks hard at 5500rpm and pulls right out to 7250 rpm..

Its got cam characteristics..Its pretty much as quick as a 106 GTI and the clutch was slipping when this test took place so something has been done imo..

Small update chaps..

Had a day with the XSi..Basically just cleaning and checking the underside etc..All fine, touched up a few bits of underseal but no rust or anything to report so quite happy..

Tomorrow will be taking some more stuff out of it like speakers etc..

Will be getting a sparco suede steering wheel next as i hate the std wheel, then a bucket, then a cage..As for spraying, will leave it for abit to admire the welds..lol

Its got a silver top rocker cover because the old rocker seal was fooked and i had a spare silvertop rocker cover with a recent seal so just bolted it on..lol

I love my VTR dont get me wrong, but its too nice and new to strip out etc but its boring left as it is..:P

so whatever i get for my VTR will be paying for allsorts on the xsi..Will get a proper track car this time..;)

The only thing i'm worried about is the following..

I took out a loan to buy my VTR, my VTR will last me for many years and be pretty reliable..I'm worried that i'm gona spend all the money i get from my VTR on the cage and shit then end up with a car that might fail an MOT and need a fortune spending on it..That would mean i took out a loan, will have wasted all the money and be paying it back for 3 years but have nothing to show for it if the XSi had serious problems..It looks all ok underneath etc but i'm not an MOT tester so wouldnt know if it would pass or fail an MOT..

Thats my only worry..

Then save up some money and hide it away for MOT time mate. And just get the MOT list and do the checks yourself its pretty simple stuff. Other than things like emmisions etc but if youve got a mate who works in a garage hell be able to test it quickly for free.

Danny - Because i took out more than £2500..So i wouldnt pay it totally off and i wouldnt want the 106 unless i could get a mint cage etc put in pretty quick as it really isn't as nice as the VTR..lol
