Hi. I'm trying to find out if there are any car dealers / traders who specialise in Saxo VTR and VTS (or perhaps Pug GTI's too).

Basically, my parents have (or at least had) a mark 1 VTS - mint inside and out (except for a very small dent on the driver door - only noticeable in certain light).

It was completely standard (except headunit and rear lights) and had been well looked after with full history and had a new clutch last year (still under warranty) and full new exhaust (including cat) 6 months ago.

Unfortunately, some pratt in a Golf drove in to the back of it - he was doing approx 30mph, we were stationary - and it appears he didn't touch the brakes at all. This has wrecked the back of the car, including a slight bend/kink in the roof, and pushed the rear panel forward so that the passenger door now catches the body when opening. On top of that, we were pushed in to a Saab fitted with a towbar, and so the front of the car is damaged too - doesn't look too bad - though the radiator is now V shaped (but not leaking!).

I'm expecting the insurance to write it off (and the assessor said as much).

There's a chance it could be repaired (at rather a large cost) if we could buy the car back as salvage - but still not 100% certain on this.

However, I'm struggling to find similar cars for sale to get an idea of market value. It must be a late mark 1 (this was a '99 T plate), unmodified, must be red, and must be in absolutely excellent condition inside and out - the interior really was like new. From previous experience of viewing cars, a lot of peoples idea of 'mint' is not mine. So thought a specialist dealer of these cars would be a good place to start.

Most of the cars I've seen for sale, are mark2, or modified, or not red, or not in great condition. I've not yet seen any that meet all the criteria - but hopefully I'm just not looking in the right places.

Any suggestions appreciated. Many thanks.

I really think you will struggle to find a clean, unchavved, hpi clear mk1. They are about but very very rare.

Don't look on the likes of Pistonheads as it's more than likely people who have interest in cars who post on there. eBay is a possibility but your local Yellow Paper or Autotrader will likely be the best bet.

Thanks onzakieron. I'll keep looking - it just seems hopeless right now...

You will find one eventually, just like I say, rare as mook.

It's always a shame when something happens to you that totally isn't your fault yet theres nothing you can do!
