hi, well i just got my car back from the mot center, and i managed to get it passed for around 150 ish inclusing labour...

i havnt even drove this car yet and had it a while...

when i received my car i got told that the headgasket might be going out, but he's not too sure...

he said that some steam was coming out from the exhaust and that the engine (where u put the oil) was bubbling, i have not seen this yet but the mechanic told me.

i also got told by a m8 that if the oil brim (where u put the oil) and inside the oil place goes a bit brown, the hg could be going. there is a bit of brown stuff in there so i dont really know whats wrong with it..

should i sell my car or will it be ok? btw this a mk1 sx, and i dont rele have alot of money to get the HG repaired if it does go.

thank is advance, Carl

p.s rep will be given :)

edit: im going to buy some more oil tmorow, im gna drain all the oil out and buy a new oil filter... i will top up with all the water and top everything up everythin i need. if the oil goes brown again (or white) will it be the HG?

Yeah they are symptons of head gasket mate, not really a hard job tbh, dont think its worth getting rid og because of a headgasket.

Other symptons include burning oil and over heating, brown coloured water in the expansion tank and lack of water in there too.

Yeah the oil cap usually has whitish gunk and build up around the inner seal and the expansion bottle water is sometimes discoloured like a brownish colour.

ok, what do u reckon i'll do, reckon i should sell it, or get it repaired before it goes? bair in mind i only get like 100 a week considering im a student nd only got a part time job... part time during summer aswell :@...

reckon i should sell the car while i can, and get a newer/better sax? or keep it?

tbh mate any car you have is going to cost you money, theres no such thing as a cheap car, if you can afford to run the current car you have then keep it, head gasket shouldnt cost a bomb to get done, personally i would stick and just get the car sorted. but its your choice
