Hey

Just had 266mm brakes fitted with mintex discs and pads, had them on a few weeks and then i notice a high pitch squeak sort of every rotation on the wheel, i havent driven the brakes hard at all really, bit of sharp breaking maybe a few times but that was after a good 500mile bedding in time.

It only comes from the drivers side and i get no vibration under breaking (well not yet anyway) and it doesnt scrape every rotation when i come to a slow stop. It also doesnt do it when im doing under 30mph, and only starts when the car starts to get warm.

Im thinking it is either a warped disc or my other possible kind of theory which is this:

When im driving along and it does the squeaking, i then stop, reverse for ten metres or so and then start again, the noise stops completely for 3 mins or so and then starts again. I was just wondering if it could possible be the cv grease on the driveshaft starting to run out?

Thanks for any advice peoples.

Maybe the calipers are sticking... did you remove the sliders from the carrier and grease them up?

You mean it squeaks when your not braking? Does it stop if you turn left or right? Does the squeaking stop if you brake?

I had this for about 4 days around 2 months ago, to fix: a heavy drive early morning down the back roads, thus doing a lot of heavy braking from speed it was gone, didnt plan on this wasn't sure what the problem was at the time. I also had a squeak under very light braking.

try driving along at a slow pace, take it out of gear and brake gentley until the car stops. if the braking is constant and you come to a stop then your discs possibly are not warped but if it feels like the pads are grabbing the discs and then letting go but your pressure on the pedal is the same then your discs are warped.

however, when i fitted mine a couple of years back they squeeled like a pig until i cleaned the calipers and carriers with a wire brush and slapped loads of copper grease on them

Doesnt sound like warped disks to me. How are the pads seating in the caliper? Are they secure? Where did the calipers come from? They could be sticking....Are the pads in good condition....check for damage, flaking and separation from the backing plate.

the pads came with the calipers and they fit in fine and are a loose fit, they have got copper grease on them along the sides where they slide and on the back of the pad where the piston would make contact. I tried doing what bytor said but didnt really go properly hard as i dont want to do anything stupid and crash lol.

Just cant figure it out.

checked the brake hoses are not twisted?

might be worth trying another set of pads to rule the pads of out the equation

The pads and discs are brand new (mintex) and the hoses are braided goodridges ones so doubt thats anything to do with it anyway.
