Right been doing my research on this problem and gonna check the idle control valve and coolant temp sensor.....when I figure out where they are?!
But this is what is happening(in my g/f words)
as i begin to slow down through the gears or brake the car starts to rev repeatedly and even more so when im stopped! It also looses power a bit like when you are running out of petrol. This seems to happen when i slow down by easing off the accelerator or if i am not constantly gaining speed, i.e flat spot. Then the car regains th epower and thrust the car forward unpredictably feeling out of control.
Saxo 1999 1.1 east coast
Thanks in advance

Hi,
ICV is located at the very top of your engine bay if you are standing on front of your car, you have your air inlet from the front of your car leading to the air box with the air filter in it, this connects to the engine block via a Cir Clip. If you remove the airbox ( 2 clips and the Cir Clip) you will see iinside for all purposes a flap which tilts when you rev the engine. Just above this on the outside you will see the ICV with a few wires leaving it.
Badly affected by oil so if you have a bad filter, no filter or an over oiled filter not good for the engine at all.
Also the bad design of the breather pipe possibly putting oil there is not good either.
Hope you can figure it out from this, still not sure how to post photo's.
Thanks

Right checked out the ICV (top left of the airfilter housing) it looks clean and connectors look fine....then it started to p*** down and had to put it back together quick. Then I fired it up and the idle was a bit up and down and I could hear a clicking, so inspected the engine bay. And right where HT leads go together (dizzy cap?!) it was sparking!!!? Now i'm not sure if this was caused by it getting ever so slightly wet or it what? So immediately turnt off the car and disconnected the battery. Thne cleaned all electrical wet areas with wd40. I then started the car up again and the sparking had stopped and I dunno if it was just me but the idling seemed better but not perfect. I then took the car around the block and it seemed ok really......
And after having a look around- under the dizzy cap thingy is a green plug...is this the coolent temp sensor? And is it a case of pushing down the metal clip and pulling it out etc?

i had to change my lambda sensor and temp sensor. but just make sure you have no air leaks and that all the connections are in properly
