Detailing Costs

Hey folks, this is mainly aimed at the guys who detail or to the guys who have had stuff done.

What sorta costs do you charge for detailing? Like i know it depends on the job etc but what guidelines would you follow when costing it up?

Toying with the idea of getting a PC or UDM but its too much cost (to me) just to clean my own car so i'd proobably try and do a bit for friends etc too and recoup some funds/get some paid practise.

Charge your mates like £100 for a full detail, Pretty fair tbh.

Kit, to warrent charging someone for a detail your going to need to spend 400 + and get ALLOT of practice in.

I charge 40 + depending on colour/size/how much of a friend I class you as. That covers me pads and polish/cloths.

Detailers by trade charge 200-400 pounds per job.

I already have quite alot of gear and experience without using a polishing machine and i have my own car with horrific paint work to practise on.

The initial cost of the machine, pads and some new compounds is really why i started the thread, obviously i intend to spend more money on better equipment to clean my own car, but it prefer to be able to undertake a few jobs along the way for mates to try and bring down that inital cost, even if it means only catering for dark coloured cars (mine is black) since i'll be tailoring my purchases to suit my own car.

£100 is more than i was expecting to charge tbh, especially untill i get to grips with the gear. I might just take the plunge, if i can sort out the horrific mess that is my poor saxos paintwork then it will be worth most of what i have spent :P

emm yeah should be, have to say though i dont have many pads or polishes lol or anywhere particularly good (inside -garage etc) to detail the car
