Hi guys.
Can anyone help me here. I stupidly went through a red light the otherday and got flashed by a traffic light camera. smileys/smiley19.gif I was only doing about 10mph causei was turning left at the lights.
Anyone know weather is a £60 fine as well as 3 points OR just a fine????
Dan

not entirely sure as i dont hav a lot of lights up near me, but iv got a feeling itl b a 3pointer and definately a fine
its a serious offense, and if it comes down to it - u werent going that fast so therefore u shud hav been able to stop at the traffic lights safely.
i think i was told the only way ur allowed thru an amber light is if u cant brake and stop efficiently and wil cause a danger to traffic behind u
sorry to hear about it mate! im already on 5points for doing silly things! shit happens and all that

next time you go past that camera check the back of of it and there are two circular bits at the back, if these are open the camera would have flashed you and you should be expecting some points as well as a fine! If the back has the two holes blocked out you may be fine and not get anything at all.....

don't think the traffic light cameras actually record your speed - just that you went through a red light.
someone i know did this in a works lorry (as he couldn't safely stop) and just got a fine.
keep ya fingers crossed mate - think it may only be a fine. BUT learn ya lesson and don't do it next time

if u go through the amber then you'll be fine, as they're there to show you should only go through if you can't safely stop. but if it was red then a fine is pretty certain unfortunately

maybe its different depending on the area/circumstances. not really sure how it works but know someone who got off with just a fine.
not all lights have cameras on round here either

i very much doubt if traffic law would change depending on the area or the circumstances mate. as far as i know it 3 points and a £60 fine.

thats fair enough mate - never thought of it like that
i'm convince the guy i know only got a fine, but it was a while ago so i may be wrong smileys/smiley2.gif

dont mean to thread hi jack but how much over 30mph can u get away with from those laser guns cos i think i got tagged doing about 34 in a 30, are u allowed 10% plus speedos usually abit fast or do u wreckon il be getting a ticket smileys/smiley5.gif

again, i was lead to believe that you are allowed to travel up to 10% over the speed limit. after, that you are fined.
but i was caught doing 33mph in a 30mph limit 3yrs ago.
are u allowed 10% plus speedos usually abit fast or do u wreckon il be getting a ticket smileys/smiley5.gif
think that's an urban myth mate. speedos are calibrated up to 70mph, and only over-reads above that. if the policeman decideds he's gonna bust you then he will.

mm thats what i though mate will just have to wait n see, can i appeal cos i was overtaking a cyclist at the time or will they say i should have still maintained the speedlimit
they'll always say you should have stuck to the speed limit.
btw, that's a crackin pic in your sig.
