Engine keeps running after switching off ignition

hey,

the enigine keeps running after i turn the ignition off and i take the keys out.

just wondering what could cause this and if anyone else has had the same problem and knows any ways to fix it.

to turn the car off i have just had to stall it and then the lights will stay on but when i then turn the key all the lights on the dash go out.

is a a diesel? coz if it s than it cud be the stop solenoid, coz i have had the same problem, but i had to get my imobiliser disable to replace the stop solenoid, now i am having problems starting the car. dont think the garage has done the job properly. but if you dont have an imobiliser, it is easy to do yourself

hey mate it is a petrol...

im thinking it could be something to do with the wiring cause i spoke to someone in the garage and he said thats what it might be but i just wondered if anyone else had the same problem..

give the ignition barrel a whack :)

hmm well tried to wack it ... no luck there...

the car has had a front end bump - its just had new light, new fogs, new steering rack and new radiator.

dont know if any of that would affect this, i checked all the wires around the steering colum and nothign seemed amiss there.

any ideas or does any one have a wiring diagram of the ignition barrel so i know what i am looking at.

also if anyone can find a thread with all this already on as someone posted abve that would be great as i cant find any!!

sure it aint the fan running as i remember when i let me mrs out in the car when ahe first pass her test she rang me saying the engine wouldnt turn off LOLZ

as above my fan stays on after turning car off after long journey and yes it sounds like car still on, is your car constantly on then or does it go off after a while if so its the fan.

lol nah mate i wish it was my fan still running but the exhaust on my car sounds fuck all like a fan....

i have been lookin on the net and seen a few things about earths causing problems with the relays, but cant seem to find much on there.

guess no one else has this problem. and ur car dont idle when the fan is on and the noise aint quite the same lol also u cant stall a car when the fan is running. all problems which i have at the moment
