Power steering relay

I have recently been hearing a whirling/buzzing noise from the front of the engine when I turn it off. I've been quoted by a mechanic £60 who thinks I need a new PS relay, however I've just seen a 2nd hand one finish on Ebay for £6 so I know where I'll get the part if that is the issue.

Is he correct or is it something else?

Oh, the noise does stop when you pull the relay.

If you pull the relay out and the noise shuts off, then it sounds like the relay is constantly switch over, a relay is a switch basic!! i would be going down the spare yard or ebay!! pull out and push in relays!!! £60 having your pants down!!!lol

£60 is a bit steep for a back door kicking. I'll visit the local breakers for a look see.
