View Full Version : My Laggy VTR

My VTR seems really laggy off the blocks. It's as if the throttle repsonse is down or something. My mates little 1.1 goes ahead till about 30 and then I fly past but it's as if my car "bogs down".
It's a weird feeling! I have taken the intake pipe off as I like the meaty induction sound with the resonator missing.
Could this be it? It's just been serviced by the way.

You need a pipe of some sort as a cold air pipe, otherwise you will lose performance.

Where can I get a decent pipe from? Isn't the standard one quiet laggy?

CORRECTION.
I haven't taken the pipe off at all.
Just taken the resonator off.
The air filter is brand new.

when you say resonater, what do you actually mean?
edit - if you mean the pipe that goes to the front of the slam panel from the air box where your air filter is then it will be sucking in all the hot air from the engine which will be 'bogging down' the engine. either stick it back on or get another ducting pipe and put it to a better cold air feed

Resonator is like a black box that sticks out of the main airbox (underneath standard cold air feed).
It's there to numb the induction noise down.

put it back on as its sucking in hot air from the engine bay, dont matter what part is off or if the whole thing is off its still gunna suck hot air in.
