Rattle is driving me mad

Hi guys im new here please be nice to me :)

I have a 2001 mk2 VTR on a 51 plate, done 45000miles

Whenever revs are between about 1600-1700 in any gear (even at idle at stabndstill) there is this very loud metallic rattling coming from under the bonnet. You can easily hear it in the car and i need to turn the music up to drown it out.

I've tightened up everything i could find, wipers, ECU mounts, front wings etc but after lots of fiddling taking bits off and stuff it sounds like its coming from inside the fan for the interior heater under the wiper motor.

Its really hard to get to but its where the noise is loudest.

The car itself is pretty rattly bu its this one specific one that bugs me, once you get about about 2500rpm theres no rattles at all.

If anyone has any ideas at all i'd be really grateful, all i know is that its coming from somwhere under the fan/wiper motor

i had a rattle on my vts and it only happened at 2500rpm not above or below that.
it was hard for me to tell where it was coming from, i eventurally found out that it was the heat shield on the cat that was rattling so i welded it up and its been fine ever since then.

is that the heatshield on the manifold under the engine bay? its been up on a ramp and some blokes from kwik fit had a look under and couldnt see anything wrong with the exhaust

i would get someone sat in the car revving it untill it rattles and then get someone else to hear if the exhaust is making the noise

its getting worse so i presume whatever it is is getting looser :(

when the blower is on full power the rattle changes, it sorta get louder and quieter :( when i go over a bump or something it stops

to get to the blower motor i have to take the steering wheel off, steering column out and the whole dash off :(

help :(
