sorry for another new car thread, but mines different. :P

well i bought my EK9 in June and do enjoy it. however i want something a bit more flashy and faster, and easier to insure. lol. (im not too confident in the EK9's value either, as it is a car lovers car, everyone gasps when i say its around 7k)

i have my name down for the new focus RS, but in the meantime im thinkin of getting a VX220 Turbo.

now my dilema... My gf of 3 years is wanting to move out this year! she's older (im 21 and she's 24) and is saying she doesnt want to wait for another couple of years. (nice girl)

Now i dont mind moving in with her etc, but it would mean no RS or VX220.

So do i move out and keep the EK9 or do i think i only live once and get the car(s) and have a stroppy mrs??

:zainy:

Get your own place.... the car can be bought in a year or so. Keeps you both happy?

but the cost to live now is ridiculous and the RS is about 25k so easily a few hundred more a month.

she wants me to pay a bit more too coz i earn more than her!

good point!

we would be renting first though just to see how it goes and i'll have more fun in the car than in a house. lol

dont rent just go mortage

save your money imo get money back in the end:) even if you two split up and compromise between house and car;)

the compromise would be keeping the EK9 and moving out. but i am wondering whether to get something better whilst i can

i would rent first to make sure your ok living together, me and my ex were fine then split after 6 month living together. would've been harder if we'd bought a house together.

not really a ek9 is a very good car?

imo i would be grateful for a ek9 at 21yrs old

Jazz
5th August 2008, 22:36
you want faster than an EK9? 0-60 in under 6secs not quick enough for you? And you're only 21? When people get to that stage the only affordable solution would be 1) Lotus or another more track focussed lightweight like Caterham, Radical, Westfield etc or 2) a bike.

Otherwise you'll probably just keep getting bored lol.

I would just keep the EK9 mate, its not exactly a slow car and there will always be Honda enthusiasts that will know the value of it when you come to sell it.

Focus Rs FTW!! <3

6th August 2008, 13:02
LOL!
you jammy bastard.

VX220T is a good call, lad I knows just bought one,
fucking amazingly quick!

....house is the more sensible idea, as you do look a bit stupid people see you in a flash car and then you dont own your own place.

Put it this way, you pull the most amazingly hot chick in a night club. she gets in your VX220 or Focus RS or M3 whatever, you will feel a mug when you have to tell her the house is your parents....

do wat u want! its ur money! dont waste money by renting somewhere! tbh atm i wudnt even think about buying somewhere as the house prices are in suuch limbo and with the credit crunch and shizzle! wud just wait tbh! ek9 is a lovely and rare car! well it is round here! so wud just keep that and continue saving tbh can see them going up in money if anything

The house prices are dropping steadily at the moment. If anything this would be the best time to buy, if you can get a decent mortgage.

Danr
6th August 2008, 13:49
I wouldn't buy a house at this moment in time but it won't be long before everything stops dropping. Then it's the time to pounce.

Personally i wouldn't buy the rs, alot of money to pay for a car which is going to depreciate massively. Could you afford a second hand VX and a house?

Adum
6th August 2008, 21:33
it would be a second hand VXT, around 13k probably. and i could look to do both tbh. but if something went wrong or get alot of bad luck at work then idont want to struggle to pay bills.

The EK9 is nice dont get me wrong. its not 0-60 under 6 seconds either btw. more like 6.5. 1/4 mile is not far off a VTS!

I'm not 100% on the RS due to is depreciation. i have not left a deposit so can still change my mind about it.

just get new mrs dilema solved

bytor
6th August 2008, 23:12
I'd stop trying to find faster and faster cars, and find one you really like. VTS standard speeds or + cams is enough for the road tbh, you can have plently of fun with that sort of power. If you find a car that once you have bought you can't imagine yourself selling even after a year or so then your onto a winner. Power is fun for two weeks until you get used to it and it just feels slow again, so once again you get bored and look for a faster car. :y:

Pat_Vts
6th August 2008, 23:37
get a bike if its speed

Mardgee
