I was looking at getting an Alipine one but this seems a heck of a lot cheaper and comes with free TV tuner and sat nav for europe.
Is this going to be really poor quality?
I have found loads from google for under £500 are they really bad or do companies like alpine just bump the price up because of brand.
I mean they are really expensive if you think i could buy a laptop cheaper than one of them and it be decent. Why are they so damn expensive!

Found one on car vision.co.uk which was £440 with free sat nav, cant work out what brand it is though. Looks pretty tidy!

It is cheap, chinese and crap quality! I can guarantee that the motor will pack up in the facia first. They also take AGES to load a CD or DVD. By the time its loaded you're at the shop and about to turn the engine off again! At least thats what i found with my cheapass dvd player. Also, they dont play copies and stuff.

Just steer clear and get an alpine or pioneer!:y:

Grrr i'd rather not spend £700+ tbh as i would want the gps unit and that and for the alpine stuff its £££

That one is shit too tbh!

Its "eonon"! My mate has got a flip out dvd player made by them. Its crap! You touch the screen to chane the settings or whatever and the whole thing moves and creakes when you press the screen. Sometimes you press it and it doesnt register, so you press it a bit harder, the screen flexes and it folds itself away.

Just dont... Lol

Why not get this Clarion (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/8483.html) unit, then buy a tom tom for £90?

Better quality, easier to use and guaranteed to last! Backed up by a warranty!

I have a Sat Nav but have always wanted one that is in built to the HU, want a double din touch screen.

plus it has handsfree bluetooth.

Oh right bummer it looked pretty good thats a shame! I guess that will be the problem with all of the cheap ones then

You will probaby find that they all come out the same factory and therefore all use the same shit components inside.

Its a shame, cus they are always packed with good features for very little money!

Im in too minds, i really appreciated your input from your friends unit, but his was a flip out which tend to be flimsy even the ripseed ones lol.

By all means try it mate, but if it doesnt work or if you dont get on with it, its a hell of a lot money to lose!

Trust me, i know, ive been there! I bought a chinese dvd player, and it barely plays dvds tbh! Lol

You have barely any control over the sound, only very basic options, such as rock, pop, jazz or classical and a loudness button! Thats a deep as they go!:n:

Am looking back at the Alpine one, the only thing that bugs me other than the price, is the fact if you want sat nav you have to purchase the alpine blackbird which is a sat nav in itself and slot it into the HU, which defeats the point really.
Its about £300 extra aswell!

The cheapo ones you can add a little GPS box to them, why on the alpine do you need to basically slot in a tomtom into it! Pointless!!

Read a few reviews on different models and getting mixed help really, someone goes into depth about its poor quality etc

cant find the good one. Not sure now really dont know, the only reason i want a double din touch screen is for sat nav. Dont see the point in having one if it doesnt have that feature otherwise its just a big standard hu that you can watch DVD's through and is rather expensive.

yeah mate just stick with the well known brands. always the best no matter what ayone says. may not be the best value but is always best in hte long run.

Just having a look at Clarion stuff. As they seem to offer most things as standard just trying to work out if gps is or isnt.

Also extremely £££! The one with all that i want is £1,049! which is way to much!

So the hunt is still on! JVC do some ok units but they are pricey and still need lots of optional extra's.

Grrr really annoyed with looking for a decent one! Im not going to buy a cheapo one as i just wont last and will be crap quality!

Just cant see why the cheap ones come with everything! but the branded ones come with nothing and everything is an extra!!

Are there any other brands to look for? Ive seen kenwood, JVC, Clarion and pioneer ones but all above £600! and dont tend to have sat nav as standard!

If you have heard of the brand then it will be okay!:y:

The likes of JVC, alpine, kenwood, pioneer, clarion, sony will all be worlds better than the cheapo ebay ones.

I think im going to save up for a Clarion as its the one with everything it just has a huge price tag lol.

Comps and amp first then amp for sub and box then HU!

Think i have it down to two now, - Kenwood DNX7220 unit or Clarion MA983HD unit. Just thinking which is best for out of the two and where to get the best deal really.

The clarion as a 40GB HD which has music catcher function (saves music to the HD) and thats about the only real difference. They both have Sat Nav, TV function (albeit a tuner is needed) DVD, CD, Ipod, Bluetooth.
They both seem to have good reviews. Wont be till christmas once i have some monies and perhaps the price might drop you never know.

Any help choosing or anyone want to through another one in and help make my decision harder?
