its a tough one because every sub uses a different sized box, so trying make a specific guide is hard. Lay down some ideas on us and we will try help smileys/happy.gif

Thats mine, just measured the boot, bought some wood, cut it about right. Cut it some more. lol. Screwed all the wood together, then used some of that filler glue for the cracks. 2 x 12" subs and a 500w amp. Sounds wicked in the car!

you're best to choose subs which go with the type of music you listen to most... if you listen to dance or rock music with short punchy bass notes then i'dsay go for 10's as they give a shorter, sharper bass note, if you listen to mostly r'n'b or hip hop/rap then i'd say to go for a couple of 12's as the 10's wont hold deep bass notes as well as the 12's will and wong go a s low...

on the other hand if you're like me and listen to just about everything i'd go for the 12's.... had a pair of 10's in my westcoast originally then changed to 12's and much preferred the 12's

well thats where we hit a prob! i listen to dance and RnB/hip hop/rap!

so what size would you says better???

RyanBeattie
14th July 2005, 20:01
my personal opinion (just from my own experience) would be the 12's.... as i like the long deep bass notes when listening to some good rap/r'n'b
also the 12's can still keep up with the short sharp bass required for dance music...in general 12's are good all rounders

ummm you've got me thinking now! lol i was just going to get 10" but i dunno not what does everyone else think???

cheers for your comments mate!!

i'll get some pics of some of the installs i've done for you as well... might give you an idea or 2

one can be seen Here (http://www.moddedmotors.com/galleries/ice/bassbunny/index.htm)

and another here (http://www.moddedmotors.com/galleries/ice/laura/index.htm)

they both quite simple... the first is basically a false floor with the vibe twin box screwed down to it, along with the amp

The second was a bit more complicated to build, made a false floor and build the box from scratch out of 18mm MDF (18mm is best as its strongest and doesnt flex) carpeted it accordingly then set about the wiring etc... the 2nd one now has 2 sunvisor screens in it too instead of the portable dvd player

Graeme

cool! im going to build my own out of 18mm mdf any way! i want a build like yate5y's!!!

would this be hard to do???

RyanBeattie

not particularly... if he could measure up his sizes for you it'd make it a lot simpler as you'd just have to copy his...

alternatively you can work out the dimensions yourself, with a little bit of DIY knowledge its quite simple... the difficult part is creating the right amount of airspace behind the sub... i think i have a program somewhere which calculates the amount you need... i'll have a look

And remember to seal the boxes with a good sealant as you want them to be as air tight as possible
