View Full Version : opinions?
right this is just something i was told by my brother and i just want to hear your opinions on the subject.
two cars were racing on a duel carriage way one of them was a nissan 200 sx not sure what the other was and they were not mates so didnt know each other.
anyway the guy in the nissan 200 sx crashed and killed himself and his friend who was the passenger but the other car was fine and the guy driving that didnt crash... right.
.....the guy who didnt crash is now being sentenced to 5 years in jail for racing the other car even though he did not cause the car to crash and wasnt involved with the colision.
do you guys n gals think this is right or does he deserve it?

tough one, he shouldn't have been racing so i'd expect him to get some sort of punishment for that. but think 5yrs is a bit harsh if he didn't cause the crash and wasn't involved in the collision.
but i suppose in the laws eyes he helped put the other people at risk by racing them and therefore they're punishing him for that

In my opinion, he doesnt deserve the sentance... was not direct cause of crash.
The law will state he was an accessory to the deaths though, I would think.. as if he hadnt raced ther 'may not' have been a crash.

thats a bit harsh for the lad in the other car like
bit silly to be racing even though we've all done it before dont think what he got was right like think he got a pure wanker of a judge n jury n some very shit luck there

shudnt have been racing anyway, but no its not his fault
its one of those shitty things tho...a bit philosiphical: if they hadnt raced at all, wud he hav crashed..? who knows, but in my oppinion - he shudnt b going to jail
yeah, i was just interested as i think its a little harsh although he would have deserved some punishment. not sure who instigated the race either but id like to hear more opinions on this.

that happened in glasgow about 4-5 years ago mate. 2 guys in RS Turbo's were racing after strathy cruise, one lost control and crashed, and the driver and passenger were killed. the driver of the other car was fine, but was jailed for manslaughter. do agree it's a bit harsh, but like everyone has said, the court would more than likely take the view that if they hadn't been racing then it might not have happened.

yeah i dont agree but i can what everyone is saying. its both peoples decison to race tho. if your at the lights and someone pulls up and starts reving its your choice to go or not, more than likely the passengers say go on or say dont. i agree in sum sort of punishment, but not jail. hes not forced the other person to race if the other person couldnt handle the car they shouldnt be trying to race
dont know if it was the same incident sean but my bro said it was on clio sport the other day so not sure if it was a new case?

here (http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=57&h=0&t=6978) is an old forum thread on the glasgow crash i was talking about dan. it's from 2002.
only 1 person 2 blame for the crash, the bloke driving, he was in control of the car and his responsibility. its was his decision to drive the way he did, his actions that made the car crash.
just like the old firing squads, who was the murderer? the gaffa telling the guys to fire, or the bloke firing the gun?
