dp stopped doing them
do they do anything like that scott?(jamsport i mean)
Scott
13th July 2005, 20:53
i know jamsport were largely responsible for Sybez's throttle bodied and super charged gti, so maybe they would under take the work
saw a turbo saxo at fcs black mk1 with jamsport stickers on.
im torn over what to do?
vts motor and LAD Evo kit, 180bhp?
vtr motor with turbo or charger?
vts motor with turbo or charger? (being the most expensive smileys/smiley5.gif )

im not even going to start on any of the LAD power claims apart from to say they are bollocks.
really? never herd much about them, saw sum 205s at fcs with their stickers on and they were fairly rapid!
what you herd about them?
LOL, just remembered that kid at the travel lodge with the red 106gti said that it had a LAD converstion with 190bhp!!!! lol smileys/smiley17.gif

in complete agreement with scott about LAD's so-called '180' conversions. they always put out 180bhp on their rolling road, but take it to an independant r/road and it's lucky if they make 150. it's basically some headwork and lightning/balancing of the bottom end.
not sure what to do? smileys/smiley5.gif
turbo the vtr?
vts motor in the vtr?
just buy a vts?
smileys/smiley5.gif smileys/smiley5.gif
transfer what i can to it from the vtr smileys/smiley2.gif smileys/smiley2.gif

depends how far you want to go i suppose. if you're going for as much power as possible, then go the vts engine with forced induction-250bhp+. although with the vtr+turbo carworx claim 180bhp, and that's with untouched internals. get some forged pistons and turn up the boost/sort the fuelling and you could get 200bhp. also depends how many miles your vtr lump has done. if it's done a few then you might want to look into a rebuild/freshen up before you turbo it, just to be on the safe side.
has 100k on it , buts its had a good life, new castrol rs every 2 months regardless. smileys/smiley2.gif

how much would it cost to turbo a vtr?
Sean

have a look at carworx (http://www.carworx.gbr.cc/3020/info.php?p=2&pno=0), £2800 (approx). you'll get 180bhp from a vtr, obviously depends on what spec you go for.
sounds gud to me, would a performance head and cam kit for a N/A car work alrite on a turbo?
i think u hav 2 sandwhich a few headgaskets together to help lower the compression a bit too? smileys/smiley5.gif smileys/smiley17.gif

think the cam would be ok, but a higher lift cam would help combat turbo lag a bit. not sure if carworx supply a thicker gasket. you'd have to ask them, or at least ask them what thickess they recommend, as i can't imagine leaving the standard compression ratio to get 180bhp.
